I rarely use more than two ounces nowadays on a light rod but to be fair I only target bream and bass

Are you holding bottom, or bouncing the bait through with 2oz?

Hello, if your casting weights of 4 ounce or more you going to need some shock leader joined to your main line, about 20 ft long,  i have watched people beach fishing with heavy weights and casting with no shock leader and get snagged on the reel and whoops snap and line and weight gone, 2 ounce should be ok if you have about 15llb main line, most of my beach fishing was using spiked leads but i did use rounders when rolling bait in the tide, if you watched the news today some beaches i fished like Hayling, Bracklesham , Bognor, Selsey had some very strong wind and high tides , give it a few days to settle then it is good time to fish

Anyone on here in to beach casting? I enjoy coarse fishing but never tried beach casting. Just started working out near the Suffolk coast, so keen to get some advice before giving it a try.

Thanks

Dan

Let us know how you get on if you start on the Beach Sea fishing Dan
