I'm sure the question has been asked before but having checked back 20 pages I can't find the answer.

I've tried uploading some photos of roses in reply to a post from JDog but they are too big ?

If you are on a Mac,

  1. Open the photo (in jpg or similar) with 'Preview' (a standard Mac app).
  2. Select 'Tools' from the bar at the top of the screen, then from the list presented as tools, select 'Adjust Size'
  3. If you just want to reduce the file size, use the section for 'Resolution'.  The check boxes for 'Scale Proportionally' and 'Resample image' should be ticked (if they aren't already).
  4. The bottom pane of the window shows the predicted file size as you alter the resolution (in pixels per inch/cm).

I imagine there is something similar in Windows, but I'm not a Windows user, so don't know where it hides.

You can reduce the size online or download and use a free paint program such as paint.net….

https://www.getpaint.net/

You could use windows paint to resize, use pixels if you do and maintain aspect ratio, your picture needs to-be a maximum of 1000 pixels wide and save as .jpg.

On your windows pc right click one of the pictures you wish to resize, you will see an option to “open with” choose Paint, once open click on resize (top left) after resize click “file” (top left) and save as, in the drop-down window select .jpg and give your picture a number/name and save.

Tip, create a folder on your desktop and give it a name, then save your edited picture there, makes them easier to find.

Many thanks for that old`un, I have often tried to download photos to post and have never been able (or tried) to resize, but your clear explanation works for me as I`ve just tried it. Every day is a school day:good:

All I`ve got to do now is keep a note of how to do it next time.

When you resize make sure you set it to use pixels (tick box) and maintain aspect ratio (tick box), try setting the size to 1000 pixels wide and see what it looks like, when you save as a .jpg give it a new name, that will allow you to keep the original picture at its full size/resolution, once saved open folder containing your resized image and hover over it or right click/properties to see the file size.

After several attempts I used the one that Old Boggy suggested, this was after I disastrously downloaded an App by mistake that locked me out of the PC, I then got someone else to sort that out thankfully, so hopefully every thing is ok.

Thanks again

I don’t wish to take the credit, it was old’un that suggested it, but it certainly worked for me.
