JDog
Today sums up pigeon shooting precisely in my view. I scanned the weather for days, scanned harvest fields for days, and when everything aligned asked a friend to shoot. This morning it rained. 0% rain was in the forecast. It was raining when my friend arrived. I was downcast. Still we headed out to my banker field, a rape stubble. Not one but two tractors were tearing up the soil. I had no Plan B. Bluffing badly I set out for a long shot field, a field harvested of rape a week ago and surely ripped up by now. It wasn't and there were pigeons on it even in the rain. I watched for a while and the rain miraculously stopped to be replaced by an overcast sky and 20mph winds. Perfect. The two large fields presented a problem so we set up between them, not on the lines in but central enough to attract pigeons from either side. We had a great two hours shooting and ended up with 65 pigeons. Edited August 5, 2024 by JDog

Wilts#Dave
Just when you’ve done your homework those tractors go and ruin it! You did well to pull off a good second place to that banker field Jdog, was a lovely day weather wise for a spot of pigeon shooting this afternoon.
