the most tasty way to cook an egg is in the chip pan after you have removed the chips ...

This need a few answers before you have your nightcap .

Do you crack the egg on the chip pan , or in a dish and then put then in the pan ?

Do you leave the metal mesh holder in the pan or take it out while the egg is frying  ?

If you take it out then how do you get the fried egg out ?

Do you drain the oil off the end product , or do you use lard ?

And do the eggs make any difference to the contents in the pan .

All sensible questions as that is something I have never tried .   :drinks:

  1. without basket
  2. long spoon
  3. put on a piece of kitchen paper towl
  4. let the oil cool a bit before you add the egg
  5. it will bubble&squeak a bit...wait until it goes a little crispy at the edge..then remove
  6. just crack the egg  close to the oil so it dont splash

Probably not needed these days, but my mother always cracked an egg onto a saucer first incase it was bad.

Yes and it made it easy to just slide in to the pan off the saucer.   :good:

@harrycatcat1's original question rather passes me by as I can't eat eggs, so it would have definitely been a 'yes' to have a few beans to keep the chips company - or they would have been lonely.

Beans usually have a place for me, especially as part of a breakfast.
