I don’t have any links, but the info’ must be out there. The steel shot issue has been going on for years now; isn’t it common knowledge that the only thing preventing steel from scoring barrels is the wad? Ad per the thread of .410 home loads, I will be shooting .410 steel cartridges using cork and fibre wads. Ill be using my steel proofed pump action, so stand by for photos of before and after. Possibly if steel shot with traditional fibre wads was not going to very likely damage barrels the cartridge manufacturers would already have them for sale rather than expensive bismuth cartridges. rbrowning2 Posted 11 hours ago Report Share Posted 11 hours ago I am not aware of anything special about a steel shot CIP proofed gun, they are just proofed to use cartridges with a Pmax 1050 bar like a lead shot cartridge for chamber lengths of 12/73, 12/76 and 12/89 Hence why unlikely to see a HP steel 1050 bar cartridge for a 2.3/4 70mm chambered gun as they are only Pmax 740 bar.
