marsh man
I have gone a bit overboard tonight in trying the famous ginger my fellow county man is keen on using , bought some fresh veg and I would say it was my best tea this week , apart from a Chicken breast left over which I will have it tomorrow night with oddments I have got in the fridge , wasn't sure if I would like the sauce but in all fairness it was very nice , It took 35 minutes and the veg I done for was just under 20 minutes , all in all it was very nice . mel b3
Absolutely top marks on that one MM . I know we all take the xxxx (obviously not me , as I'm far too polite)😇 , but that really is a proper , top quality, healthy , balanced , tasty meal . bruno22rf
Looks spot on, bit expensive though IMO, £5 for 300g of chicken!!-that's around £16/kilo 😯. Aldi chicken breasts (superb) are £6/kilo if you buy the 2 kilo pack. That sauce/drizzle is easy to make and will freeze readily, tin hat on, only my take of course and it does look superb. Timing wise , I add 5/10 minutes on the stated cooking time to allow the oven to get hot and to make sure it is cooked , I them prepare the veg , put boiling water in the steamer and then let them steam away for around half the cooking time , so my tea is normally ready within 30 / 45 minutes from start to finish , this give me enough time to sort the dogs meal out and have a cuppa while watching the end of the news , times will vary as the night get lighter . Yes it was nice , I had it about the right time of the evening , I had been on a longish walk in the cold weather and I didn't scoff into a bit of Christmas cake while having a cuppa before my tea , so time it was cooked I was just about ready for it . Yes I totally agree about the cost , apart from the veg I very rarely if ever pay the full cost of most if not all of my teas , I bought two of the above items on the Sunday before the new year along with a few other items including the a gammon joint that I have cut into three joints so they make a fairly cheap tea , I like to have one or two weeks supply in the freezer and then top it up if I come across any bargains . this was the cost of last nights tea , even o a ps can afford that without using the old and no longer fuel allowance

That is the way to buy them , It is all down to timing as the bargains don't hang about for long , I am just back from being out for most of the day , called in Waitrose around 2.30 and dropped on some packets of sliced Chicken , Turkey and Ham all reduced to 19p a packet , bought about a 10 packets , one lot will do for a cold meat tea and the rest can go in the freezer to be used for my dogs tablets , tell yer he eat better than a lot of wealthy people

I normally get a packet of 36 thin slices of the cheap Chicken or Ham as he have three You - Move tablets every morning , then if I come across some packets of better stuff then I buy them so he can have a change , he must be used to it as he rarely break wind , mind you , with me it is a totally different story
