eightlittlebits
It appears to be a somewhat sensationalised headline. Banks raise concerns over benefit debt recovery powers - BBC News As I understand it they're being given powers to recover money owed from fraud/incorrect benefits directly from bank accounts. Normally they would reduce any benefit payments or recover it through PAYE. If neither of these are a thing they're saying they can go direct to the bank to recover the money. ditchman
bit over the top reporting...........but it is still more evidence of continuing state control of the populace by degree.......... ......people need to wake up and smell the coffee before its too late its almost getting to the stage where its almost on track to become Feudal
Gordon R
DWP have had access to individuals' bank accounts for many years - even those not directly claiming benefits. Recovering money from them is a newer feature.

discobob
You need to look into Open Banking. People may be signing up to it unawares. An example is the Experian advert. You give them access to your bank account and they bump their arbitrary credit score - then deduct it for withdrawing cash!! HMRC is signed up to Open Banking!
