Every time the River Welland is dredged they find stuff a couple of hundred yards downstream from the bridge, we had one of these a few years ago.

So no links then? It must have made the news.

Lightweight do it indoors 😂

Don't blame me . She moans about it setting the smoke alarms off .  I reckon it adds to the whole experience.   Even the firecrew that turned up said it was a great idea 😁

I know.

Get a grip. Polluting them with what?

Is that a serious question ? And seriously, do you really "chuck them in the river" ? Or were you being sarcastic ?

Yes. Quite serious. Polluting them with what?
Yes, I have done so in the past, and I’m not the only one. They’ll all have corroded into oblivion by now.

Again, polluting them with what? Do you mean as opposed to all the chemical run off from farm land, effluent, rubbish and decades and decades of lead shot spread all over the environment from the likes of you, me and every other shooter in the land? Wow indeed!

I'm assuming that you pick up all your empties and take them home to dispose of them ? 🤷‍♂️

The OP’s question was what to do with a dud round?
I’ll try and explain again, but there are several options.
He could just throw it in the bin, but potentially it’s a live round so sensibly he wouldn’t want to do that.
He could hand it in to the Police.
He could return it to the place he bought it.
He could dowse it in fuel. He could dowse it in fuel and set fire to it. He could bury it. He could cut the case off just above the base, empty the powder and shot out and then chuck it in the bin.
As far as I can recall I’ve never thrown a shotgun cartridge in the river, but over many years of handloading handgun rounds I accrued quite a few deformed rounds both inert and live, so when eventually all my reloading gear had gone I was having a clear up and came across maybe a couple of dozen rounds of various calibres of deformed rounds. Some were just empty cases but primed, some were loaded but with no primer etc etc. I had no bullet puller by then so in the river they went. They will never be found and I seriously doubt there will be any trace of them by now; it’s just tin after all, and very thin tin at that.
Anything else?

And with that answer you've just made yourself look silly 🙄
