marsh man
Not to much cooking tonight, although time I got home with the dog I needed something to warm me up , no not what you are thinking , those days are long gone , I needed a quick easy meal that didn't take to long to put on my plate , so I ended up with Cottage Pie , Potato mash , Mixed veg , and for afters I had a Apple Pie and tried some Brandy cream , verdict , all edible and left very little both on the plate and the dish . Sage and onion (I'm lazy and use Paxo with an added knob of butter) is lovely with a pork chop. I do struggle getting a pork chop 'just right'. Undercooked pork is not good, and overcook a chop and it very quickly goes tough as old boots. For some reason it is one of my regular 'fails'. Do you grill yours John , fry it , put it in the oven or what , I prefer mine grilled rather than fry it , with it being under the grill I can see what is going on and at what heat do you use ? MM I've tried various methods, but usually cook in the oven as I love a roast potato with chops. I use a thermometer to get the inside temperature 'safe', (70C) but it is very easy to go over. I don't use the grill much. Two reasons; I grew up and learned on a coal AgA, which had no grill (I do have a grill pan, but rarely use it). My (electric) grill is OK, but takes a bit of work to clean. For a pork chop, I do the roast potatoes, Paxo, and chop all in the (electric fan) oven at 180C. Potatoes are boiled first. You can also do roast veggies with root veggies and cauli, broccoli, leeks, sprouts, though I usually boil them and use the water to make the gravy.
