I'm now down in AA at Sporting, with an average of 85.7 over 3000+ targets, the cut off for AAA being 85.8, at least I now don't have to beat Faulds & Digweed to win my class. :good:

Cat.

You have the advantage back like me, are you still going to Hornet on the 9th Dec?

Yep, I'll be there at 9.30 for a cuppa before the 10.00 K.O., will also have tape recorder and notebook to unravel the mystery about the "Anti" on the Bucks committee.

This could be a warm up for the Bucks & Herts V Essex team event..??

I need the practice ???

I would be good if we can do things like this now and again between the Counties on PW, I gather it was all the rage at one time.

IMO anyone can come up to Drayton Parslow, and shoot with us.

The Pirate owns the ground so I'm sure he wouldnt mind.

I managed an 87% average over 3402 targets - Dont know where the 2 came from!! 0.5% improvement on last year

Apparently because there was a greater number of registered shooters in the last cut off period this changes the goal posts,

I still cant work out why I average 91.3r -10% = 82.23r and they have with an average of 87.3 on my DTL over the only 3 DTL's I have ever done.

The same for skeet it doesnt work out correctly, to many to list to show it all.

Have a look,

My number is 114016

And I have used the same calculations they use and come up with different numbers :good:

He he, I thought of you guys while sitting in the PW lounge with my feet up by the fire

I was out yesterday and was hoping to get a pass for today, but alas, when I awoke it was gone 10 and I had missed the bus so to speak

Besides, I couldn't find my sunglasses :good:

It's less 5% for Trap and Skeet Tony and 10% for all the Sporting Disciplines. ;)

Well done AAA, Just looked at Faulds Sporting Classification, how come hese only in Double A??, ;)

Theres a note at the bottom of the page that says that they have AA as the highest as AAA is only used in championships! - So no-one on the site is registered as AAA

you dont take off 5% or 10% from your average.

you only remove any scores below 5% off your average.

eg you shoot 80,81,80,65,79

average would be 77 (385/5 shoots)

take away anything less than 5% from your 77 (so anything less than 73.15)

your new average gets calculated on 80,81,80,79 which would be 80% (320/4 shoots)

Thanks for that but I used the calculation in the CPSA hand book and it reads like this, I have typed this so bare with me for typeo's.

Calculating a classification

The CPSA updates members classifications every six months on a rolling average, using results received fron registered shoots during the previous 12 months. These are used to determine a shooters classification for the following period.

The classification is determined as follows:

1. The "raw average" forthe shooter is calculated. For example, a shooter completes five registerd shoots with scores of 65,

57, 68, 75 and 70 out of 100. The raw average is 67.

2. Discard any score of more than 10% below the raw average.

3. 10% of the example raw average = 6.7. Therefore 67-6.7=60.3

4. Any score less than 60.3 is now discarded ( in this examplethe 57)

5. The remaining scores are added and divided to arrive at an "adjusted average".

6. 65+68+75+70=278divided by 4 (cant find the divide key) Adjusted average= 69.5%

Then they go on to tell you how the classes are listed in descending order blah blah blah

Thats how I worked mine out.

thats exactly what i just did except i used 5% instead of 10 because you are shooting dtl or skeet.

Now you have corrected the calcs it makes sense, they dont actually say that in the 1st edition Handbook that I have.

Thats one I can bring up at the next regional meeting.

Cheers
