Cranfield
I had a drive round this morning and was surprised how wet the farm tracks were on even the higher ground. Naturally I didn't venture along any. There are few things more guaranteed to raise a Farmers blood pressure that a torn up farm track. I don't know whether the pigeons didn't fancy getting their feet muddy, but I saw loads apparently feeding on ivy berries and two large groups in the meadows which I assume were on the clover. The rape seemed empty of pigeons, but there were a high number of cock pheasants about. At the moment it seems the best option for a few birds is roost shooting. ShaggyRS6
Lurcher Boy will testify to this. I actually forgot my boots when he and I went out on Sunday, I was wearing my new trainers. Not a mark on them. The ground here seems to have dried out well Edited January 24, 2008 by ShaggyRS6
al4x
absolutely soggy here, best bit about the shooting season ending for us on Saturday is that we can finally roost a few
Highlander
I'm in the process of building an ark! Anyone know where I can buy a hover quad? Lots and lots of birds but they're all over the place, rape one minute, ivy the next, clover fields and beet tops. I hear Suffolk farmers are planning on growing rice next year!

Zapp
All of mine is sloppy as hell. Took the chainsaw out about a week ago to get some more firewood in (I have a rather nice agreement with one of my farmers - I cut his trees back for him in exchange for the wood) but had to turn back because I could tell that before long the fourtrak was going to make one hell of a mess! Having said this, I saw a 300+ flock feeding on a half submerged field of kale just outside the fence at work today, so they are about! lurcherboy
Still wet here on the reclaimed marsh but all higher ground is dry. I have noticed that all woodies are feeding on roadside ivy LB
