moses
just wondering, why is it bad to take a head shot? i know your not ment to but why? Cheers Its not bad if you can guarentee a 'head' shot but only an inch or two out and you could knock the deer's jaw off. That's why its frowned upon. Personally I would not take a head shot if the head was broadside on as I think there is a greater risk of injury but, I have shot deer in the back of the head/base of the neck when down on the bipod, and at a sensible range. A well placed head/neck shot will drop any deer on the spot. Edited February 17, 2008 by moses

Dirty Harry
Well done. My 3 year old boy will get rabbits, ducks and pheasant out of my game bag and help me skin them. I dont have a problem with that and I am pleased that he knows where his food comes from and what meat is. Harry
WGD
Excellent V-max, well done. And your third pic reminds me of camping in the Angus glen's as a young boy (brought up nearby but not there now sadly ) As for the "other" post on this thread (i.e. flight-path), reign it in - not constructive, informative or helpful... perhaps if you had personal experience of a "school shooting" as you so flippantly put it you would think more before you post. v-max
Sorry but i feel i have only educated my daughter & am proud of it. This is the reason BRITIAN is in the mess it's in when it comes to our food we have lost touch. All the top cheifs live for the wild venison/organic or fresh fish & veg we are what we eat. I think it's sad when kids dont know things like a cow has to have a calf before it can produce milk, an egg comes from a chicken & meat comes from an animal. And MISS V-MAX not happy with some comments on here from idots with no knowledge of the real life & land management xx.

WGD
V-max, your post was excellent for all the reasons you state. I tell both my boys (4 & 2) that I am going shooting and then when I come home I lay out the game, be it brace of pheasant, goose, rabbit or whatever is in the bag that day and show it to them. Let them have a prod about then ask one of the boys to pick up the game and bring it to the shed for me to be hung. Have explained since before they could fathom it out that the sheep and cows in the fields are actually in the sausages, burgers and steaks they love. Well done mate

Cranfield
My daughters came fereting and shooting with me from the age of about 5 onwards. They enjoyed handling the ferrets and eventually could set a good net. Dead rabbits and birds were common sights at home and both of them have cleaned lots of rabbits, pigeons, pheasants etc. The experience doesn't seem to have traumatised either of them. ciltalgarth
WELL DONE V-MAX I think it’s GREAT to get the youngsters into vermin control and game management and learning where our food comes from. My boys love bagging a few birds or bunnies and putting the in the pot with some home grown veg from the allotment. Well done one once again v-max and young gun. Jim McArthur
I think it's great that you're instilling her with a love of the outdoors and a realization that yes, nature is not always a happy thing, but there is beauty in it nonetheless. And she is as cute as a button! Jim
