bob300w
I'm sure that most of you have seen this; The 1000yds benchrest World Record Group. 1.564" - 5 shot group, shot by Rich Deismus on August 17th 2002 at the IBS Nationals, North Carolina using a Krieger barrel chambered in 6.5mm Super. Awesome or what? Bet there are no foxes within 1000 yards of his house!
tikkamark
That sure is an awesome group at that distance
Peter_HMR
Just to put the age old argument to rest was it a tikka or rem? Seriouly good group though any pics/info on the rifle
Hunter
My B2 airgun could beat that.. Nice shooting but I would have thought the 1000yard group world record would be tighter then that to be honest. Still, good shooting. I bet the gun cost a bit to build

Hunter
To be honest unless I was disabled and could not stalk I would begin to find it tiresome shooting from the same position all day, in perfect conditions. But I have to say, they have some really, really flashy kit, certainly drool matirial 6mm ppc benchrest
highseas
Depends really. At what speed are we propelling this rat? Can we assume average size? What about if we freeze him? i thinl i have to clean up after myself what a gun
Hunter
Infact 6mm PPC can be produced as a hunting rifle and very effective it is too. But most benchrest rifles are running very hot loads and are not so good price wise as ammunition, and barrles will cost a lot for the less common cals. There is also a huge amount of competition so you have to very dedicated ans spend a fair amount on good kit if you want to get into real comps. v-max
Hello Hunter 1.564" at a 1000yrd is a grazy group have you tried hitting accurate at 3-400m/yrd. The pic is from a rifle russel gall made of Mintlaw not to far from me & as for the world record i would have thought it would be a custom single shot action like Lawton/Bat/RPA etc Im looking to go for a 6.5x284 for my next to as im quite fancy long range stuff now. Salop Matt
Strange question folks what caliber is it they use in the olimpics ? Is it 7.62 ?
Hodmedod.one
[in an Australian accent] "that's not a flashy gun, this is a flashy gun!" The owner must spend more time polishing it than shooting it.

You can't see the challenge in putting 5 bullets in a group smaller than magpies butt at a thousand yards? You obviously don't shoot a rifle. I could use the same argument with you, where is the challenge in throwing a pattern 30 inches wide at a clay pigeon/pheasant, impossible to miss isn't it?
