Ferretboy111
Having really bad trouble with people riding quads and motorbikes on my shoot, they dont have a care in the world and drive all over the crops, i chased 3 today- Too fast for my truck. The joys of ELS buffer strips, not just horses and dog walkers that use them as roads. Will be taking out my videocamera next time in my truck, nail those *****. The sad thing is, is that the cops are useless with anything small like this, not worth their time i suppose. And without hard evidence nothing gets anywhere, with any country related crimes, unless guns are involved. Nothing else we can do apart from chasing them off and trying to get the reg numbers and their pictures. I could of ploughed into there bikes today, but decided against it. Really, really, really, annoying. Alex (P.s anyone have any spare mines i could use? :yp: lol)

Poacher
Dig a trench make sure its quite well disguised and with any luck they'll ride straight into it. Then wait for them to nail you in court for occupiers liability
starlight32
Make up what we call in the business 'Gorilla spikes' Take 3mm flat plate or similar- cut two strips 100mm x 100mm. Grind each end to a point.Cut a groove in the center and interlock the two or stitch weld them together. You now have an early version of forces issue vehicle stoppers, if you want to advance them to more modern standards link them all together and you have a stinger. Hide with leaves or plant material and away you go. They end up looking like a WWII tank trap in minitature. Just make sure any friendlies are aware of their presence to avoid any 'mishaps' and above all remember yourself where you lay them. Extreme measures I know, but the whole world of 'tresspassing' as we know it in the UK is a sham. While I can abide dog walkers who stray and admit their mistake blatant trespass with motor vehicles causing damage is unacceptable. Some years ago youths in a stolen motor completely destroyed a shoot I used to belong to-Flattened all the game cover, ran over all the pens and feeders destroying all of preseason's work in a summer's evening- They were caught red handed and the police did not even prosecute. A very sad day indeed.

Ferretboy111
Cheers guys, only trouble with setting spikes or digging a trench is that everywhere where they are driving is practically a footpath and would hate to injure some helpless person. Police dont do anything, so im going to have to start videoing them, and seeing what the police will do with the evidence of trespass. Me thinks this too, its very sad when this sort of thing happens and you cant be there all the time to watch out, not sure what can be done alex as an ASBO needs proof but thats hard to come by, can any fences be errected short term? one string of razor wire perhaps that must be legal? Ferretboy111
Did think a fence too, trouble is that these people dont have a care in the world and literally are driving over crops of wheat, and rape, not sticking to the grass verges. Ill just video them next time i see them. Alex
mr lee
They have to be entering the area at some point on your land so make that your starting point. Use 61 by 6" x 6" wide posts and install a stile between them made of the strongest thickest wood you can afford. Reinforce the underside of it all with a thick guage wire too. This will prevent them smashing it down if you use the thicker posts as a starting point. Install fence posts and a thick wire around the area that they are generally coming from too. I would even look into electric fencing with notices on. If you can, forward the reg numbers onto police of these people. the police will issue them with a notice that restricts them turning up again in that vehicle for a year. If they do turn up in less than a year they get a notice to confiscate the motor. You have to keep on at the police to get any action done though. It is a draining and demoralising task but eventually if you make a big enough noise, you will get results.
Highlander
Remember why the yanks welded angle irons onto the front of their Willey's Jeeps in WW11? Lost a few heads before they cottoned on! Oh and if you're too young to remember... ask your Dad!
Suffolk shooter
They have to be entering the area at some point on your land so make that your starting point. Knowing the land, that is one MF fence he is going to have to erect I know what he means though about the people round there, Only last year he was having problems with Dog walkers who refused to keep to the footpaths, removing his signs warning/prohibiting them to carryon even though they had barbed wire wrapped around the poles and if I remember rightly had some form of grease applied to them. Trouble is too many people think they can go where they like and do what they like. SS
Ferret Master
Alex, Get their plates or if you can find it out their names. Then report them to the police. If they get done for riding underage/unsuitable bikes on the road twice or trespassing on them twice then their bikes will be taken away. That's what my friend who does MX just told me on MSN anyway.
