Was anyone else here as stupid as me? :*)

I was prompted by MSN to accept new update/service pack.

Tonight I spent 3 hours trying to get computer to connect to internet. Keep being told that I now have 'limited or no connectivity. Tossers (sorry cranfield and hammergun) but there is no other word I am willing to use right now!

They are blaming everyone else

Chose your actions wisely chaps.

LB Its your own fault you should have been out celebrating your BIRTHDAY

AOL ughhhh

Microsofts service pack 2 for XP was released yesterday for all users. Most of the problems have been caused by XP's firewall being turned on automatically after installation, especially if a user is already has a third party firewall installed. The best thing to do is turn off this feature ONLY if you have already got another firewall installed and running and see if things go back to normal.

Most copied versions of XP will not work!!!!

This is only my advise if you have problems. Please read as much info on the new service pack 2 and the built in firewall yourselves.

If anyone needs Service Pack 2 but only has dial up a good proposal is to make a circular cd ie

The first person who wants it i will download the full service pack ,put it on a cd and send it out to them, then they can copy it or use it and send it on to the next person on the list etc ,etc .

If we make a new topic ie service pack 2 wanted and add your name on the list then whoever has the cd can send it to the next person .

Anyone want to go first then .

Having waited for Microsoft to, "automatically download" XP Service Pack 2, I got fed up and turned of "Automatic Update".

I then went to the Update Site and manually downloaded it.

Took about 20 minutes and so far I have had no problems at all.

My PC seems to be a bit faster, tighter etc.

The same feeling you get with your car, when it returns from a service.

barrieO, it is being mention on quite a few Forums, that the Service Pack CD will soon be available free, on some Computer Mags (to help dial up users).

I wouldn't touch a home copied CD version with a barge pole.

This is such a major update, that any corruption at all, could cause serious problems.
