Alphamax SG for fox.

Recommended Posts

To be quite honest, I found the best all round ground game cartridge to be RC sipe 5s. Before I had a rifle I used those in my old Yeoman for rabbit and lethal on the odd fox that came my way. They kick too. The keeper running this fox shoot has stipulated we use "appropriate load for fox", so it's a box of BB on the way. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. DS.

Just to clarify, pellet count per ounce;

LG=6

SG=8

Spec.SG=11

SSG=15

AAA=35

BB=70

1=100

3=140

I would say that more foxes are killed with 6's than any other shot size, especially at game shoots!

Choke is not really important, it has less effect on the larger pellet sizes than small shot.

Personally, if I was going out specifically for foxes, I would use 3 inch 1's or 3's. BB if that's what was available.

I have seen a gun shoot at a fox at 40 yards with SG, you could see the the dust all around it where the pellets hit the ground, both sides, above and below, the fox escaped, untouched.

I got a box of them, patterned them through my shottie, two ****** foxes sat side by side could have escaped ;)

I've used SSG's on Muntjack in the past (legally before I get abused) and they work very very well but and this is a major thing I also managed to shoot a land rover that was at 90 degrees to the muntjack and 70 yards away ;) purely from a ricochet from a tree behind the deer. Couldn't find damage but the driver wasn't amused though he accepted the shot was safe. On the plus side they hit like a sledge hammer.

On a dedicated fox drive you are far better off with something between BB's and 1's

I think that it's time that you were abused, for not showing the follow-up clip on your avatar!

9 ball is a bloody GOOD round..

only available in 2 3/4 70mm due to 3x3 ball shape load.. each ball at 30 yards has same hitting power of .38 pistol round.. if your confidence is there at hitting the fox, they are the nuts!

regards, matt..

That's 'sg' mate
