Dr W
As title suggests I'm looking for a pair of decent perscription shooting glasses (after a piece of clay flew past my eye with inches to spare I'm going to wear them from now on). I live in London so if anyone can recommend a retailer to me it would be much appreciated. I don't want my vision to be blocked by a high bar (after reading another thread) and I don't mind paying a bit for decent ones. Cheers Edited April 8, 2008 by Dr W

Catamong
I've had 2 pairs of the Zeiss ones from these people, not cheap, but good: http://www.stewardsportsglasses.co.uk/index.htm Cat.

So these are not interchangeable, you pick your colour and that's it? What colours did you go for, I like the yellow for low light and was thinking brown of photchromic for sunny conditions I liked the look of the hidefspex until I saw the price
Catamong
Yes, they are fixed lenses, I've got a pair of red tint ones for Winter & Brown tint for summer, both polarized, I also use them for driving. The nose bridge is adjustable so they sit very high on your nose. Cat.
the last engineer
those Zeis are awsome cat, but pricy, DW are there any R.E. retailers over there? i have two pair i use, one for me and one for the guy who allways turns up without, interchangable lens and good quality also "Randolph Engineering" glasses, they take a beating as well without crapping out. Catamong
Martin, Don't forget that these are prescription glasses, i.e. the lenses are individually made on every occasion to correct my dodgy long vision, they're not for sharing, and also that we live in "Rip Off" Britain..!! Flashman
I have some R.E. sunglasses, more for driving than shooting. They've lasted about six-odd years but the frames are now looking a little tired. I have friends in a hot sunny place who wear WileyX: they have a good rep. but aren't cheap. I wear thin metal rimmed specs for shooting and have never had a problem with the frame impeding my line of sight or looking over the top of the lens. Still, I'm all for spending lucre on a new toy so fill yer boots on some flash bins... Edited April 8, 2008 by Flashman

Yellow Bear
Try these www.doylesports.net 4 different lenses with a moveable frame for your corrective lense and not too pricy. work fine for me with no "top bar" Best of luck
paul1966
looked at prescription lenses when i started shooting, the only ones in my price range had the prescription lenses in a removable frame under standard protective glasses. decided in the end to get some daily disposable contact lenses which i just wear with standard eye wear. I'm a member of one of these health things so I get £160 every 2 years to put towards glasses which these will be classified as. lost the plot
I wear varifocal glasses all the time, and i wanted another pair for shooting so my optitian recommended that i just have the second pair with yellow lenses in for distance only, and thats what i did. Its amazing how the clays can be so easily picked out with the yellow lenses, i should have had them years ago!!

Nice Actually they're more pink than red, but I didn't want to admit to wearing pink glasses on a public forum, (I'm no Dame Edna..!! ), I just prefer pink to yellow, that's all, I find that orange clays stand out better in poor light with pink, rather than yellow. Of course, that's my opinion, not a scientific fact, you'd be well advised to try before you buy, and get what suits you, most people I know tend to favour pink over yellow. Cat. berettaman1
Well I have had all kinds of eyesight problems over the last 6 years.... I used to have a pair of bright yellow glasses , which upon the first day of using them!! allmost caused me to crash my car on driving to a meet, it was a wet road, but to my interpretation looked like a nice sunny morning!! I chucked my car into a fast righthander, and found for a split second the rear seat in my car came into my vision!!!at that time and even now most Sundays I see two clays that seem to be running piggy back,!! this has scewed up my shooting, I have been told its because of eye muscle weakness in one eye!! Oh Well I must just admit Father time has Won.
Dr W
Perhaps I might wear yellow glasses all the time and pretend that it's lovely sunny weather instead of the miserable grey **** we get most of the time.
