anser2
I first looked at this post months ago and I cant beleve its still running. To kill any bird from pigeon to duck or goose its so simple. Hold the head in your hand with the weight of the body hanging down and swing in a corkscrew montion a couple of times and the neck is dislocated and the bird dead. I use this method 100s of times each year and never had any problems with it. If any newcommer has any problems go out with someone experianced and they will show you better than any photos on the forum. George1990
I hold it's head up to my a*se and give it a silent-but-deadly... But, depending on what i've been eating, they often need their heads pulling.
bootneck
For what it's worth, simple wring of the neck for everything that flies or hops. As for priests, second shots, bashing against trees, pliers (heard it all now) if you can't do the job manually then frankly don't shoot it, go beating instead. jimdfish
I just kick them up and down the field like a football. It kills them and its fun too! Six pages. utterly amazing. The pliers are however a must I think when out shooting canadians. Crimping their necks is a hell of a lot easier than trying to wring the neck. PaulABF
Personally I only use a priest for sexual pleasure but that's probably got a lot to do with my Catholic upbringing. I don't bother despatching any wounded prey - I find that the skinning and gutting bit normally does the trick.

Hmmmm. Would I want to go onto someone's shoot who doesnt understand humour? No, so even if I were made welcome I wouldn't go by dint of fact that you made a judgemental noise on a post "mmmmm". Please-read both my post then your post and then pull the rod out. Also I suspect strongly that you do not have any land at all. JDF

duckdog
My grandad once used a shotgun to dispatch a wounded crow. He missed twice at point black range, no joke. He is 75 though :yp: I have a priest that I use for fly fishing.
Ozzy Fudd
i usually just fire another shot into it. used to wring the necks but had a pigeons head come off in my hand (the rest of it was flapping around my feet!) so that put me off wringing.... TheHunter
A friend carries a .177 pcp air pistol and issues the "coup de grâce" to all which survive initial shots. I'm happy to ring their necks, with a little practice the head stays on.
George1990
Don't generally wring their necks if their necks or head are all bloody... bit of a woos If that's the case a blow to the head doesn't do 'em any good.
