sambu13
i came accross this site earlyer and (not knowing anything about the story) was struck by the apperance of the trap. the trap itself looks brand new and the box its inn as well!certainly doesnt look like the work off a competant man, as well as the 'blood' looking very odd. am i stating the obvious in thinking this is a lame hoax?and does anyone know more?mabie im just paranoid! http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...l%3Den%26sa%3DN Edited May 28, 2008 by sambu13
bob300w
It's a Fenn trap and as such it's perfectly legal. If this were genuine I would expect to see some blood on the trap itself, rather than theatrically dabbed around the doorway. It's an NASC site, what did you expect, facts? MM
have you read some of the **** on that site actually found myself reading it, and realised what a load of tosh. rather than call them shooting estates, they call them "Wildlife Killing Estates"
sambu13
ive been quite enjoying myself for the last 30 mins just laughing at the stuff on there.apparently 12000 animals are killed everyday by shooting estates!! they must be including every bug and fly stepped on!that 4380000 animals a year!that seems very unlikely mabie im wrong? reedbradshaw
rabbits could be cage trapped and removed to an area where they will cause no harm, and crops are protected by fencing thats an alternative to snaring..........................................apparently
MM
do you think that they have done the reading on what it would take to do that. i agree that there has to be a level of humanity to these things, but imagine the man hours it would take, running around fields after rabbits also, they must be vegimatarians, as most of the bunnies go in the pot
mickeylove
A livery at our farm once suggested that if we left food out for the rabbits then they wouldnt eat the crops so we wouldnt have to shoot them.
mickeylove
I said I would leave the dead rabbits out to feed the foxes ( Didnt say we shot them too)

Maybe every day in the shooting season but i very much dout it late summer months when everyone has put there traps away and is too busy dogging in. I bet that is actually right or under the mark, there are a lot of shooting estates about and a fair few that shoot that many in a season, couple in vermin control including rabbits and pigeons and seems a pretty reasonable number to me. Highlander
We can guess where the trap came from...straight out of the shop but I wonder where the blood came from. Perhaps (hopefully) an anti cut themselves? You can fool some of the people all of the time, you can fool all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time! Unfortunately there will be those who see this stuff as outrageous without looking closely at the evidence that's why IMO we should be showing the truth behind our way/s of life and pushing for more TV programmes that give the right message. Unfortunately having unknowns (to the majority of viewers), keepers and country folk etc delivering the message doesn't hack it but those TV chefs who support fieldsports have and hopefully will continue to bend things in our favour. All power to the likes of HFW, JO et al.

jef
I live in Duns myself and this is the first I have heard about this. It's obviously a hoax judging by the blood. I have several fenn traps around our shoot and also in the farm yard. They have all caught something and I cant think that any of them have blood on them. How many stoats has anyone taken from a trap that have exploded all over the tunnel? And not the trap itself??? However the part about the ducks is unfortunately true. I could write a lot more the shoot in question but this probably isn't the place Jef

SpikeG
I've never been on an "anti" site before to be honest but in the interests of "know thy enemy" I had a quick look. It's so full of excrement it's hilarious.... But this really got my goat. Find a Humane Alternative to Killing Grey Squirrels The Ark Wildlife Hospital have set up an E-Petition calling on the PM to find an alternative to the senseless killing grey squirrels Senseless? Humane alternative? What should we do? Deport them to France or something? Oh and hello from a middle aged new gun
