kiddy1
Ok just been examining the air rifle i bought yesterday, and printed on the barrel is "hull cartridge".... Is there any particular reason why? Also just out of interest is there any reason why the barrel looks twisted inside? Thanks for all of the help guys you can tell its my first air rifle, I'm a shotty lad!
Highlander
Is it me or are some of the questions asked on here getting too silly for words. If people don't know basic stuff why are they buying (allowed to buy) guns???
harv
Ill give you a clue air RIFLE as in rifling, the grooves in the barrel are to make the projectile spin for accuracy
bob300w
And another clue; Hull cartridge Company import and sell air rifles.......
kiddy1
wow, i never realised this was such an obvious question. Sorry guys, i apologise. Mods please feel free to delete this topic now.
Hunter
Infact theres no need to delete it. If you want to know more about guns, ask away. Its better you ask everything here, then go out in the field not knowing a thing about guns. For safety reasons, and the fact that we are a forum, go ahed and ask away. We were all new to shooting once, we all had noobie qeustions, and there was always someone willing to answer these qeustions despite those who are fed up with answering them. Go ahed ask away, we will try to answer as best we can so that you can be better informed about shooting and guns.

Guest stiv24
I wouldn't worry, some people were born knowing everything
Hunter
Some people (99% of us) were born having to work hard to learn things, but you cant do it without asking people for help. And once you have learned it you can pass that knowledge to someone else.
Highlander
In case my original response was deemed to be a bit harsh (moi harsh? ) let me clarify. I’m not against people asking questions (however daft) or people learning without thinking for themselves but I am totally against people being able to buy guns and go out shooting live quarry with no experience or knowledge of what, where, how, why etc etc. It’s plain dangerous and damn stoopid and shows no respect for your quarry! I'm sorry but i would like to know how it shows i have no respect for my quarry? I have read all laws etc. I do have some experience of shooting quarry, maybe not as much as yourself. Don't be so patronising please, what makes you assume that i have not ever shot live quarry before, and that i would not be safe? I am a safe shooter! Please, just because i am 17 don't take the ****. I appreciate what you are saying but come on, it's not really relevant is it... You don't know anything about my knowledge (maybe a but contridictory, lol) or safety. Rant over. Edited May 29, 2008 by kiddy1
al4x
*** I've been shooting for years and i wouldn't have known why Hull cartridge was written on the side of an air gun, it does make sense but with Hull being more well known for making shotgun cartridges I can see where the confusion comes in. Love to know why not knowing this makes me a danger to the general public though

Love to know why not knowing this makes me a danger to the general public though Al4x; Hull Cartridge Company are the official importers of Weihrauch air rifles, a Weihrauch without this stamp on the barrel is a 'grey' import and Hull would not honour any warranty claim made on it. MM
Yeah BOOIIIII! i think the problem is that folk (me included) jump in and ask a mundane question without checking to see if its been covered already. pretty easy to do
