henry d
I have some grovelling to do, I was out lamping and went into a hay field that was cut 3 days ago. I expected it to be bailed, but it wasn`t. I was driving over the row with a tyre either side, but halfway across I came to a halt ! The hay had caught onto the propshaft and had grown enough to stall the engine by jamming under the floorpan 20 minutes later, no I had forgotten to take a knife which isn`t like me, I had managed to pull it off the propshaft, thankf....ully it hasn`t rained for 4 days Lessons learned

Dave-G
Heh, the hay is usually gathered into every second row - You should have gone to Specsavers. If you ask, he may let you turn the rest of it for him too Edited September 25, 2008 by Dave-G

mickeylove
This happened to me on a jcb loadall and the friction set the hay on fire, luckily managed to get the hay out before much damage done.
Imperfection
Me and a friend did excally the same when we were 17 and thought we would attempt rally driving...in a mk2 Escort...in a meadow.. Only difference was we almost set the car alight cos so much grass wound itself round the prop it rubbed the transmission tunnel and started smouldering-the give away was the 'woodbine' type of smell comming inside. Then we had the dilema of driving it even further and already smoking into a nearby ford or risk it bursting into flames infront of our eyes.We opted for the ford which put the fire out,but also flooded (literally) the engine. Ray Mears aint got nothing on us two idiots with how to make a fire...

Taking with it slot og the gearbox and other bits and bobs. Needless to say a write off!
henry d
UPDATE - Farmer is OK with it as nothing was wrecked as he still had to turn it one last time, he originally thought it was a fallow or red that had decided to get all sexy for the ladies Told not to be a silly (insert expletive here)
njc110381
I was about to ask about how you got on. Glad to hear it didn't get taken too badly, these things happen. Maybe you should buy a propper 4x4 with more ground clearance?
