Quercus
But wasn't it Tony Bliar who wanted the ban to be implemented after the election in the first place? No wonder he's happy not to contest the request for a delay. Q :o
Rimfire
Hi Guys, Any right thinking person should be able to see through the latest ploy by the Government. They don't want the hunting ban to spoil their chances at the next election. However, the damage has already been done. If they think they have appeased the Countryside by delaying the ban, then they need to think again. Being used as a political football for Government gain will only increase the will of the Countryside to fight on. It is without any doubt that come the next election we have a duty to this great country of ours to have this dictator thrown out of power. It can be done if we all pull the rope in the same direction. Merry Christmas to you all. Regards Rimfire
dodger
The story I read said that the Government would not enforce the ban until all the legal challenges were completed. As there will be a case brought under the European Human Rights Act this could be as much as 5 years into the future couldn't it? Cranfield
The Government want to put themselves in the position that they can say, "We have banned hunting". Yet, Hunters can't protest against that, as they can keep hunting while the legal challenges go ahead. Thereby the Government doesn't get embarrassed in an Election year, by street protest etc. What the Countryside Alliance should do, is to cancel all Legal challenges. Let the ban start on 1st February 2005. Let the Government try to enforce it. Have the protests , civil disobedience and embarrass the Government. Then in 6- 12months time, start the Legal challenges.

Hammergun
If Blair thinks delaying the ban is going to stop civil disobedience and protests, he is more naiive than I gave him credit for!
