Covenflower
In the old days, as far as I know especially in Great Britain, many people use to have an walking stick. Hidden in this walking stick used to be an concealed fire arm. Are these fire armed walking sticks still for sale? Are they single or multi shots? If somebody knows were they are for sale, please let me know. Thanks Covenflower (Holland) Edited December 16, 2008 by Covenflower
MM
dont think so, but they do sell ones with poison darts in the end shaped like an umberella.
palombier
CF Yes they are still around and you can purchase them, they crop up from time to time at auctions. In the UK a shotgun certificate holder can buy them for a collection but is not allowed to use them. A special condition is required on your shotgun certificate to enable this. Badgerpig
Most interesting, Id had thought these were illegal as the ones with knives in? learn something new every day eh?
Blackbart
The ones with knives in are not illegal nor are the gun ones,i see them at auction from time to time and there was a knife one in my local auction 3 week ago
GBS
The ones with knives in are not illegal nor are the gun ones,i see them at auction from time to time and there was a knife one in my local auction 3 week ago Whilst not illegal they are Section 5 Prohibited Weapons. They cannot be purchased with just a basic Section 1 Firearms license or Section 2 Shotgun Certificate. Seeing as the Police description of this type of weapon reads thus: "there are many types of firearms, especially those designed for military use, that have no place in the sporting field or hobby of shooting and others, for instance some hand guns, which have been brought into the prohibited category by Acts of Parliament." I would expect it to be Very hard to justify a Section 5 Firearms license. That said, exporting to Holland may be a completely different issue. Best of luck, Gb
palombier
GeorgieB 'They cannot be purchased with just a basic Section 1 Firearms license or Section 2 Shotgun Certificate'. As its panto season my reply to this would be Oh yes they can. Although prohibited under S5 there is an exemption; 5(5) of the 1998 Rules and section 5A(3) of the 1968 Act (as amended), provides that when a person wishes to acquire a shotgun disguised as another object for the purpose of it being kept or exhibited as part of a collection, the shotgun certificate shall be subject to an additional condition restricting the use of that shot gun to use for that purpose. That is done on a shotgun certificate not on a firearm certificate, nor do you need Home Office approval under S5. manc-munsters
palombier is quite right put your SGC in to the firearms dept and ask for a walking stick/cane condition to be added to it most FD's dont charge for this, but it would be more than fair to expect a small surcharge to cover admin etc the sticks/canes can then be bought legally, and collected legally, but can not be fired. if a "collection" is not proven at next SGC renewal, expect the condition to be withdrawn and a time limit put on the stick/cane's disposal

CharlieT
i just cant see the practicality (spel) of them. imagine one of them at a clay ground. Fantastic poachers gun !. I had one when I was a youngster, great to take with you when you took the dog for a walk round the fields. Stupidly I swapped it for a split cane fishing rod which incidentally I still have but in hindsight I would now rather have the gun. ratbuster
In Holland these are a complete NO GO area! no way one can legally one one of these. I know, because I wanted one myself. Sword cane / sticks are also a forbidden item. Cheers, RB

sandy22
The zimmer frame version is far superior, because you get 3 shots. (Or 4 if you don't need the sword & can get the Sect 1 permit).
