And another bad result..... oh dear. 86/120 at Southdown, t'was the Greater London Sporting Championships. 70% :D I was looking for 100/120 :)

Great targets, some of them kicked my *** good and proper. :D

**edited, my maths sucks. CPSA website says 86/120 **

Taking full advantage of a sneaky day off at the end of a bank holiday weekend, I went off to Sporting Targets with Mrs. Wookie in tow to do some skeet ("Just a couple of rounds darling, honest!")

First round was a 18/25 as I was getting into the swing of it again, then a 20/25, then a 22/25. I then had to run back to the car to get another box of carts and so spannered up my last round with a 16/25. If nothing else, it just gos to show that being relaxed goes a long way to getting a good score.

Interestingly, my scorecard showed some obvious shots to work on, specifically the low bird on stand 1's double (missed every time) and the high bird on Stand 4's single bird. Of course, I am blaming the chokes in the gun (1/2 and 3/4) for the poor show and would have got at least one straight with the right chokes. Obviously. Yes...

I'm now starting up a spreadsheet to track my shooting of skeet so that next time I can practice the ones that I consistently miss.

I love not being at work, and Mrs. Wookie like scoring skeet, which is a bonus. I think the free tea and coffee at Sporting Targets helped a bit.

Edited because I can't count properly...

Thanks Peter! Chokes make all the difference! Mind you, when I hit them, they just turned into puffs of smoke... I'd also just had an extra inch put onto the stock of my Beretta, so it was a learning experience.

GS, if nothing else, getting a low score is an excuse to go and do it all again. Now that I am chasing all over 20, or 24s, I just want to go and shoot skeet all the time. Maybe work would let me build something in the field at the back....

Went to Blue Bell Hill today to find i was second in C class at last shoot there and picked up 50 carts - ok its only el cheepo steel stuff but the fact i'd won something shooting left me well pleased. Also managed 2 66's ex 80 today (one of those rounds included a miserably 5) and when i left was second in B class but suspect that'll be beaten. As usual should have been better as lost a few birds through lack of concentration - bit like the old school report card - lacks concentration.

Was thinking about it........... like my shooting thought about it for too long and missed the opportunity. Only started shooting last November and thought it was a bit early in the game - didn't fancy being shown up by you "experts" - I know BIG GIRLS BLOUSE

The wind was causing a few problems for me too, but not as much as it really could have.

Managed a 62/100 at sporting up at my local on a lovely sunny day. Things started off blindingly with a straight on an incomer/rabbit stand, but then it all went wrong. Only the latter half of the course saved me, with a 7/10, 8/0 and 9/10 making up for a couple of 3/10s (I really had trouble with the looper/battue stand) and a 4/10.

All told though, I had fun and picked up a couple of good tips. Then the police turned up... More on that in another thread though.

81/100 at Worsley today. B)

Trying to get my eye in for the Police shoot on Friday. I'll need to do better than that. :)

Couldn't believe how many corporates were there today on the practice/tuition stands.

He must be raking it in :)

Shot at the East Anglian Game Fare today. 27/40. As always you can pick holes in the outcome but 2 lost birds in particular stand out, i had already killed the first two pairs, then for some reason i started jumping ahead of one of the birds. It was like a ******* nervous twitch! Ah well, good fun, enjoyed doing it and my card gave the old dears at the hut something to chuckle about.

Another new ground for me today (Keston) and more challenging targets (lots of quartering stuff - not my favourite  but they've all got be learnt I suppose). Scores always seem to go down at new grounds - only managed 55 ex 100 but a great shoot and good weather and company.

I shot my local club today and **** me was it hard!

THe guy that set it up obviously had the hump about something. I finished on a 37/50 which was second to a 41. Most of the club who normally shoot around mid 30's got low 20's.

It was a satisfactory result for me but fairly demoralising for 80% of the club members.
