I shot Target rifle at bisley today. 2 sighting shots and 10 to count at 300 and 600 yards. I started well at both distances scoring V bulls with both sighters and I converted them to scoring shots.

I finished on 46 ex 50 with 4 V bulls at 300 and 42 ex 50 with 4 V bulls at 600. One shot did not count at 600 as I pulled it off and although it hit the target it was scored as a zero. \There was a 4 MOA variance in the wind at 600 yards.

It was a club competition in which I got a third place out of 13 shooters.

I was not asked for my competency card anywhere despite there being big signs up everywhere.

I didn't shoot a comp today, but i came to an interesting cunclusion where i'm concerned! I went to my local ground this morning and done a round of skeet by myself with just the nephew trapping for me and shot like a ****, as i had paid for 2 lines i went on with 4 guys just after, the first 3 of them smoked every thing on station1 and i was was thinking here goes you're going to get shown up here lad! I put the sharp head on and dusted all 4 birds and felt a bit better, so to cut a long story short i missed the 2nd bird of the pair on station 7 for a 25 so i know concentration is my big problem.(well on skeet anyway)

Good day & good company

I'll 2nd that Magman, very good day & very good company. Magboy did you proud and I'm sure he'd have hit a few more if the shooting stands hadn't had a front cross bar at waist height, trouble was waist height for an adult was nearly shoulder level for an 11 year old and he looked really out of position most of the time. He still gave his Dad a run for his money though, it won't be long

Good job Chard wasn't there today though, everywhere you looked, sky, sky and more sky, he'd have been a quivering wreck

They hadn't toted up the final takings when we left but I am sure the shoot raised a good deal of money for Claire House (a local children's hospice)

Mr Potter

PS Do you think they are trying to tell me something - I came third overall, (H/G got 30x30, 1st in A class got 28x30 and I got 2nd in A with 27x30 - only 3 classes A, B & C) and I won a voucher for a 30 bird shooting experience at a local ground :hmm::hmm::hmm:

good luck nicky, just keep your head down till the last shot. never give up :/

Just got back from Kingsley and shot an 89

How did I do compared to your prediction Beretta? :sad1:

Kept my head down and kept chipping away at a good score. High gun (when we left) was a 91!

A difficult couple of stands at Shrove Hill today, unbelievably, 56/70 for both of us. My shooting buddy normally ends on a 65/70 or so, but two stands were very tricksy indeed and kicked us. A couple of medium distance floppy half hearted standards.

We were still high gun in A as we left, so it seems everyone else struggled as well. Hope so.

should have got some tips off chard yesterday :/:sad1: good result though.

85/90 not good enough for ya then?!

I was pulling a nice lead on everyone until the fateful two stands. If Chard scans the scorecards he took, should give everyone an idea how things played out. Still, it was all good fun

Looking forward to a registered or big competition now to test the things I've picked up recently.

71/100 today at Gatton Bottom. Started **** and felt like going home after the first 4 stands - dropped 21 from 36 .

Had to wait on the next stand for 1/2 hour while a trap was fixed - looper and a fast L/R midi, was it going to be worth the wait.

Gave me time to think what PDLM advised the day before at Southdown about my hold points and a few other bits and bobs. Relaxed a bit more and shot gun down and straighted the stand (saw lots drop 4 or 5 there). Continued gun down and thought a bit more before each shot for the remaining 7 stands and only dropped 8 out of 64 so finished on 71/100.

Has the lesson been learned though - i doubt it :/

Edit - couldn't add up

That's very interesting to hear, glad it worked out for you.

Well shot Nicky  I just pipped you though and stuck a 93 in :sad1: My mate was winning with a 97 when we left :/

I shot Grange Farm this morning as well, which was the course used for the England selection a couple of weeks ago. I managed a 78 there. Much harder course than Kingsley but I really should have had an 84

Today we had the Gatwick clays annual barbeque and shoot :/

The shoot as usual was 50 sporting plus 25 skeet and 25 dtl (single barrel).

I came third which was ok I thought as I was using my 870 and there was a driven stand with another clay coming immediately at you nearly at your head, and another stand with a high going away simo pair, not easy for a pump action

All the same, was good fun , had good food and a good laugh, can't wait for the next one :sad1:
