Rockers
If anyone is considering this idea may I suggest you don't bother. I have purchased said poles from selco for £15, filled them full of low expanding foam £4, stuffed garden canes down the middle £3 and now I am resorting to gaffer tape. I guess this is one experiment that clearly has not not worked.
Yellow Bear
Used to use the old cane ones 35 years ago -but the plastic ones are too flexible. Also used to use a catty and lead weight to put 6 pound line to a high branch and loft on the line - seemed to work a treat. D
Rockers
not sure my catapult skills are too good but thanks for the idea.
scolopax
spend a few quid on a second hand fishing pole, anything of 10m or over and use this to loft the decoys into a tree. Does not take much effort with a bit of wire to fashion a means of perching/ suspending the decoy in the branches.
Rockers
you are right it is just a tad annoying when you have shelled out money already on spaghetti poles
Toombsy
A fishing pole's exactly what I use. I took the tip section out and and it's ideal so long as you keep putting the sections together vertically and don't try to swing the decoy all over the place. It's good fun trying to place a decoy on the right branch, just where you want it, in a gale. It beats trying to push a dibber into the rushes on the far bank of a canal anyday! steve_b_wales
After experimenting with different materials, I finally ordered lofting poles from our sponsors. They are good quality and are good for drey poking as well.
