sirnovember
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7873413.stm He held a gun to an officers face and they did not shoot? Yet they shot mark saunders who was not really a threat to anyone.
pegasus bridge
to be fair the officers who approached him were 'specials' ie - not armed with anything more dangerous than a keen sense of community spirit. i have no doubt he would have been shot if an ARV had arrived and he was pointing the gun in an officers face. al4x
exactly, and as for Mark Saunders they did the right thing, he kept shooting at them so really what else can you do. They'd tried talking him down and it wasn't happening.
Axe
I'm a little confused, the report starts out saying that the armed man was approached by two Firearms Officers and then later says they were Community Seargents.
CEREALTHRILLER
When he's released he faces deportation - I bet they dont do it I say send him back
Guest
Wow he must consider himself lucky to be alive, you can ask Lee but I bet in USA if you even make a gesture of getting out a gun, you will be shot dead by the police. Just can't beleive he is still alive.
scout
This guy is so lucky to still be alive. Fortunately an armed officer didn't have to put himself through the critical decision and the subsequent consequences.

It does say the man was approacd by two Firearms Offciers. If it had happened in the US he would have been shot about seventy times I still stick to my guns about mark saunders though (no pun intended)
Hunter
When he's released he faces deportation - I bet they dont do it I say send him back He lucky he didnt get sent back to his makers let alone the country he comes from. Well done to the police for not having to take any shots. If he was shot here, there would be public outcry and investigations taking months, yet in America it would just be another day.. I've noted from other responses regarding police action that you seem quite anti police.......the usual liberal minded type who wouldn't have the nuts to do a coppers job but is more than happy to have a pop at every opportunity. Fuddster
Amen to the above, Saunders sealed his own fate by shooting at the first cops to arrive on scene. Then threatened/shot at armed officers who returned fire. not a problem in my book. fudd
Mungler
I'd have shot him, which probably why I am not on the fire arms squad :look: I have no sympathy with anyone who waves a shooter around (real or replica or airsoft) with the intention of using it or pretending it's real (so as to cause fear etc).
