Bettinsoli query

I have recently noticed a noise coming from my Betty when I tip it forward then back (ie tip barrels forward then lift them up again) the noise is metalic and sounds like something is sliding forward then back. Is this normal or do I need to be thinking about a trip to the guns smith?

Any help appreciated..

defo not normal mate, now at a guess, your stock bolt could of come lose but the stock my be still held tight as sometimes there tight even when your taking them off, id take the recoil pad off and heve a look there first, if not then it could well be something in the action, but i have no idea what, either or, you dont want to be using it whilst its making a noise like you describe, get it looked at, and let us know how you get on,

This model is a boxlock. Where is the metallic noise coming from? The action area? If you break the barrels do you still hear the noise? Difficult to determine what the problem is but no shotgun that I'm aware of should make a noise just by raising or lowering the barrel. It's possible that the washer attached to the stock bolt is loose and making noise but you would be able to hear it and feel it in the after part of the stock. I've also heard that the Bettinsoli has had problems with the monoblock cracking.

Not normal......take it in is my recommendation.

The noise is coming from the action, I was wondering if it was the locking bar (which runs parallel with the barrels in the base of the guns action) which is moving back and forth. Should this item move freely?

Cheers for replys to date but keep em coming

Sorry but SPARKIE is wrong in my eyes as I have a Bettinsoli Talento and this is what happened to mine the bar should not slide back and forward freely - There is a spring of some kind which has snapped it cost me i think £25.00 or £30.00 for a local gun smiths to fix it and service it at the same time. It will not cause you any harm as fare as i am aware of as i used mine for ages with the noise until some one on a shoot had a look at it and told me what was wrong with it. YOU NEED TO GET IT FIXED M8 Hope I have helped u. :good:

A very prompt response from Ruag, the importers of Bettinsoli.

Chris,

The black bar in the bottom of the action should not move freely and from your description I am fairly certain the cocking dog spring has broken and needs replacing. The gun will still function but eventually when you get a nice high overhead bird it will let you down !

Any queries please contact me.

This confirms my suspicion and it's a relief to be safe in the knowleadge that the gun is functional but is not dangerous. Sounds like a trip to the local gun smiths, mustn't grumble as I have had the gun 3 years without a hitch or a service, until now that is!

Thanks for the replys lads
