andythechicken
News item from BBC website below A man was shot in the head while at home in West Sussex, police said. The bullet came through the window while the man, 38, was in his home in West Street, Burgess Hill, with his wife and stepson, on Thursday night. Sussex Police said he was given stitches at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath before being released. Detectives do not believe the incident was a random gun attack and have appealed for witnesses. The area behind the victim's house, which backs on to a recreation ground, has been cordoned off. Det Ch Insp Andy Griffiths said: "We are not treating this as a random attack. "Gun crime is not an issue across Mid Sussex and we are determined that it remains so. "We urgently need to investigate this incident and I urge anyone who has information to come forward This does n't help us - some idiot shooting from a neighbouring recreation park

Guest
I just don't understand people, you don't shoot at people through house windows,, unless this was an intentional act and most certainly you make sure to do it on your own land or at a certified club. Morons.

Ozzy Fudd
if it was double glazing and long(ish) range for the calibre it wouldnt have caused too much damage, or maybe just grazed him. terrible all the same
Guest
"I totaly agree..if you are going to shoot someone through a window make sure you are on your own land or at a certified club" Haha I didn't mean it that way. I meant: if you want to practice shooting make sure it's on your own land or at a certified club.
Guest
Also this is what my passage should have sounded like: "I just don't understand people, you don't shoot at people through house windows,, unless this was an intentional act and if it was a mornon who was shooting in a public space like a park most certainly you make sure to do it on your own land or at a certified club. Morons."

Vince Green
A lot of air weapons stuff gets recorded as firearms incidents by the police who want to big it up. Stupid and dangerous it may be but probably not a firearms incident.

njc110381
I wonder what he was hit with? Any decent powder burner would have taken his head off even after going through a window, but then I doubt an air rifle pellet would have the power to carry on if it made it through the glass? Maybe it just grazed him, which if it did he's very lucky
Tommo
Given that a .22lr sub has over 80ft lb left in it at 400yards (shot at correct angle to get the distance), it would have knocked a hole in him! - l think it was prob kids playing with a air rifle (having said that they would of had to of been within 100yrds to get the energy needed to get it through glass (especially double glazing which is filled with gas etc) Even so very naughty! shot my bro once by accident with a .177 old Diana mod 23 (went about 3-4ft lb - was very old) penitrated skin very easy at 40yards) -
