Paul@Ribchester
I see where everyone is coming from. I have a Staffie called Murphy he is 10 this year and we have had him since he was 8 weeks old. Never been in a fight and loves other dogs. I also have a little girl who turned 3 the other week. Would I ever leave them alone? NEVER. He is a dog that was bread for fighting, he might have the best temperament in the world but I would never risk leaving them alone. My little girl jumps on, him kisses him and dresses him up but it still doesn't deviate from the fact that he is a dangerous dog that can cause horrific injuries if not correctly supervised, as are most dogs. As you say another Staffie thread............... Paul.
Imperfection
I cant see what peoples problem is with Staffies? Yes they're feisty, but arent all terriers-they're a breed which needs a purpose in life.Think about the other terrier breeds like the Manchester,Jack Russell even the Yorkshire-they're all feisty, but no one says they should be banned.Plenty of them round here owned by various people and they're just normal friendly, outgoing dogs. No point in banning them anyway cos the chavs will simply turn their attention back to the Rottie,Dobie,GSD etc and where would it end? ronster
in my opinion every dog should be chipped and licenced and owners vetted before taking responsibility of a dog hopefully steering the wrong type from owning one ie( people who havn't got a clue how to look after one which usually involves some kind of cruelty, intended or not and also as the article says youths on streets) bit of a hard one to enforce i know but if you had to prove you was of good character and could provide for the needs of a dog then surely that is a step in the right direction
Ozzy Fudd
dont get me wrong, i thought id post taht to show that some people have woken up to the fact that its the owners, not the dogs, that are the problem

Billy.
I also have a little girl who turned 3 the other week. Would I ever leave them alone? NEVER. So you'd still keep an animal you're frightened to keep near your child?! I'd have that dog put down if I thought it was a risk to anyone. J@mes
So you'd still keep an animal you're frightened to keep near your child?! I'd have that dog put down if I thought it was a risk to anyone. best destroy every pet dog on the planet then....all dogs are a danger to everyone. Avoiding the dangerous situations (ie leaving them alone unsupervised) is the key to safety.

myzeneye
http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=77065 i just dont see how there can be such stark differences of opinion.... on the one hand,in this thread, harfordwmj suggests if you take responsible action of not leaving your dog alone with a child, it is an issue which is cause for extermination of the dog ?? then in the thread ive linked above, the dog has had, perhaps, suffered abuse etc... and therefore is excused totally from its behaviour. .... if it was a staff, it would have got the wich hunt started again..... just no rationale... im not going to get involved in another breed bashing debate, especially one which has such moronic qualities as " dogs of scum".... yes martin...like banging your head against the wall. Lloyd90
When I was in school I used to deliver pizza's for some extra cash! One house I went to had the best staffy Ive ever met. They had the usual signs up "watch out, staffy about" and all that rubbish. When they opened the door the came bounding down and tried to llick me to death hahaha He was really friendly and a real pushover. What a lovely dog, obviously the owners had spent time training him and socialising him, I was a stranger to him but he didn't attack he was lovely Then Ive seen dogs like little terriers and things as nig as rotties going nuts just because you walk past
