Lloyd90
As far as I can tell they were walking n he tripped in a rabbit hole n shot her in the leg. Sounds like a shotgun as it says "the gun closed up" I don't like how the media has thrown in a picture of a handgun though as theres no mention of a handgun being used at all, the gun is "legally held" so doubt its a handgun Bloody press, no wonder pistols are banned Hope the woman is ok, sounds like a silly mistake http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20090504/tuk-m...nt-6323e80.html

mark_mjs93
john, that is a valid point, (no pun intended) but, if he tripped, the instant human reflex is to use your arms to stop so he may have moved the gun forward whilst falling which helped it close, and BANG wifey has a bit of lead in the leg... Bombadil
Can't wait for Antis to moan about this one, guns being dangerous and such. Because if some body had hunted those rabbits this incident may have never happened.
miroku4399
i was brought up with guns (my dad shoots) i always used to walk behind him when he was carrying it if he had fell i would always have been safe !
jammie*dodger
So if you are walking about with your gun broken do you also have it loaded? I guess it would be quicker to then close the gun and get a shot off when necessary but it would be safer not to have it loaded surely? palombier
Perhaps a case where an automatic safety-catch would have saved the day? P

Spot on, anyone out with someone shooting should always be slightly behind.

JD its quicker to get a shot off and in theory safer to have a broken gun if you're walking up game or vermin, but in this case sounds like the safety was off its bad luck and a tragic accident and fortunately thats how the police are treating it. I usually have it broken but loaded but safety on as well plus usually keep my thumb on the cartridges so that would stop the gun closing, means it would hurt if the barrels tried to shut but they wouldn't manage it
sambu13
"Mr Hudson tripped on a rabbit warren hole." Should have been shooting the rabbits!
varmintator
It's a serious injury but that's all I know," she said. "She is stable." He said Mr Hudson, I think they lie how the hell can she be stable she has just had her foot shot, I would have said she would at least have a slight wobble. Saltashshooter
i thought it was just a common safety precaution for the person with the gun to be infront at all times but we dont know the full story, trust the media to portray it unfairly hope shes alright
