Delbert
Is the punt not going to have deep combing around the cockpit. I had pictures of the boat built by Jack Hargreaves and Colin Willock the one they built had about 3-4" to prevent broaching making against the tide? Its an amazing project I wish you good luck in the enterprise.

Hi Jinxy you just need to join the local wildfowling club or buy a permit to use the puntgun in poole harbour you also need an explosives licence for the black powder. mudpatten
What sort of sail do you use mate? We use a sprit sail, 9ft. leech,7ft luff,4ft. head and 7ft at the foot with the sprit working through a rope snood or snodder. We both have to sit well aft in a bit of a blow `cause the punt goes like the clappers and the helmsman has to keep his wits about him, spilling the wind where required, as she`ll burrow if the waves get too big! Popgun
Had a couple of hours to spare so i made a mast and gave the punt a coat of under coat just needs a coat of grey and a lock on cover to keep the oars paddles and setting poles safe heres a pic of the mast in the punt. now i have to find a sail maker to make a sail i use a loose footed sprit sail same as the Thames sailing barges. Popgun
Hi mudpatten i posted the last before i saw your post if its blowing a bit hard i unship the breeching ropes and slide the gun back aft because when the foredeck goes under at speed your in the Serious trouble as you know, with a fair wind it's a great way to come home beats rowing.still no widgeon here lots of teal and nice lot of young mallard not so many Canadas probably in land on the stubbles. soon be time for the Pintail and widgeon i love the pintail.have you had a go yet all the best Popgun
mudpatten
No nothing yet. The canadas have all disappeared. As you rightly say, they`re still inland on the stubbles. I`ve just discovered that I need to replace the leather on the gun crutch, a job I`ve not done before. Yours looks very neat. Any tips? HI i've just put the rule over my old sail 6' on the luff 6' on the foot 4' on the head and 8'6" on the leech sprit into a snood round the mast, as for the leather work father in law was a cobbler i used to have soft plastic pipe lashed on untill he saw it and did the leather for me. the old sail was cotton now past it's best so i'am going to get a new one made when i can find a sail maker who will do a small sail for me all the best mate. Popgun
I've just finished my hols had a look round the harbour a nice lot of Widgeon have come in and a few Pintail as well as i was standing on the marsh about 100 to 150 Widgeon came in high from the north east and dropped into my favorite punting spot so i'll have to make my punt cover and get it into the water and have a go soon the only problem i have is mrs popgun has planted a row of runner beans across the only way to get the punt out of the garden still there nearly finished and if it gets windy they might have to blow over
Popgun
I've not put the punt in the water yet as i've got problems with my left arm so i cant row it's getting better slowly so i am hoping to have a go with the big gun in a week or 2 when i get the punt in the water i'll take some pics with the gun fitted on i'll have to stick to the beating for a week or 2 still a bad days beating is better than a good day at work. mudpatten
Do hope your arm gets better soon. Had our first run out yesterday and had a nice little shot at wigeon. Nice to know that all the gear still works and we haven`t lost the knack. All stone dead and well hit with no cripples at about fifty yards. You`ve still got plenty of the season left yet mate.
