Lamb protection

I had a recent outing one evening at a local sheep farm and found a large field just cut with crows, jackdaws, rooks all over it. I had to take a wide approach to have any chance of getting onto the crows....it still didn't work :good: they all scarpered long before I could get to take a shot.

Oh well, I made it to a good vantage point for a sit up to see if any early evening foxes would put in an appearance, I had a great view and plenty of backstops. After sitting for a while it just didn't seem as good as it first appeared, can't put my finger on why but decided to move to the other side of the farm :rolleyes: .

I am glad that I did, as just as I got out of the car - I had walked about 20 yards on my way to a highseat for a sit up until dark - in front of me comes a fox, heading away at an angle.

She had hold of something, just coming away from a pond, duck ? , rabbit ? I could not tell. Thankfully I had sticks with me and barely time to get my rifle on them. The fox did not spook but had a good trot on to stash the bounty. Now around 70-80 yards away and gently quartering.

In the crosshairs, a whisker in front and pop, fox down.

Mmmmm, making off with the back end of a lamb

Good job...

Texas heart shot? :good::lol:

:yes: , my least preferred option but on this occasion the only one

Yeah but after you shot it straight on in the chest, you didn't have to do that to it; you're not from Suffolk :lol:

That is one messy 'entrance wound' .... Does it get lonely in Kent?

I have had a few close friends concerned that I have been spending so much time in the lambing fields lately. So, I told them straight......"Sheep hold no interest for me" :lol:

Farmer was very happy :good:

Cheers
