Zapp
What magnification did you have it on? At any mag between 3-9 a normal target should look pretty whopping at 50 yards... This seems very odd indeed. I use a Hawke 3-9 x 50 on my .22lr and shoot up to 100 yards with it no probs, certainly not where the "size" of the viewed target is concerned. The brand doesnt matter where magnification is concerned - 3 to 9 times is 3 to 9 times, ie the same on a Hawke as it is on a Swarovski or Zeiss. You havent mounted the scope back to front have you I'm befuddled. ZB
Heladoxa
If you have one eye closed and the other eye open, you should be looking down the scope with the eye that is open. Was this of any help?
taffygun
I can only assume you had it set on lowest mag (3x) ... a 3-9x40 is enough scope for a 22LR
cluais
Ya i had it on 9 what size tarrget do you use i used one that was only 3" in dia maybe it was too small....
mikee
is it on the wrong way round, you need to put the fat end at the front mikee
toka_shigazu
should be able to see and hit anything under a 1" circle a that range...twist the twiddly bit at the front of the scope till the number 9 is at the top??!!! ATB
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
After useing many different scopes. mainly budget & VFM ones I've found the mag is not allways equal. I always have a look out of the front window at objects at known ranges when I first get a scope & compare clarity with any presant scope I'm useing.. I then mount the scope in the bedroom useing a pylon for a vertical reference, It's a good few miles away. When a scope says x10, my normal mag, I find some scopes are being a little artistic with the description. One scopes x10 is the same as anothers x8, or x12. Dunkield
Shot at small marks on a white background, if you want to see the holes. Or dots on bright coloured post-it-notes that works well. Or.... get some Shoot 'n see's/Dirty Bird type targets, you will holes in those. If you can't see any of those the scope may need a clean, or maybe focusing, have you adjusted the the focus? A lot of people don't know it is there and leave it screwed all the way in (I won't mention any names on here )
30-6
Before you zero at 50yds look at September issue of Sporting Gun page 77. I used to be at 50 but 75 is much better. I know this doesn't answer your question but 75 yds really is better.
Vectra26
Funny you should mention that. I was thinking of that article last week and looking through old magazines trying to find it, but I didn't have it. I thought it was a good article and wanted to read it again. Get this month's Sporting Gun, there is an article on it. Not that I'm saying the shooting press keeps recycling the same articles Mind you, I keep on buying it. Vectra26
Cheers, I'll pop to Smiths soon, lol. I'm guilty of buying these magazines too, even though an article in Sporting Gun is in GunMart the next month! At least ones colour
