Markio
Hmmm, not sure what we can do with you.........ex lanber and current escort owner- You may need specialist help markio........... However... you do hail from Essex though. So you are likely be 'covert nouveau riche'- most likely have a blonde ex british airways stewardess wife, house with paddock and daschunds running about the garden-so we will make allowances in this case. My wife is blonde and we have two chickens, do I win 5 pounds?

gixer1
My one seems ok, must have got a good'un (it's the trio butt plate one) but it was bought for rough shooting (although i end up taking it most of the time and my O/U sits in the cabinet, they are easily maintained and you don't have to worry about damaging them like you do with a Beretta...... Plus it'll take heavy loads of cartridges unlike a A301 etc.... Edited August 4, 2009 by gixer1

To be blunt with you I would be more worried about wear and tear on the recycled coke can parts that make up an escort. My Beretta has had 1000's of heavy steel cartridges through it and there is hardly a wear mark on it. It usually comes off the marsh muddier than I do and gets abused left right and centre and it will still cycle any cartridge from 21gr to 66gr. You can fire 66gr cartridges all day without any concern that it will fall apart.
Baldrick
You can fire 66gr cartridges all day without any concern that it will fall apart. I imagine your fillings will fall apart long before the Beretta, if you insist on firing 66g loads through the gun. In all seriousness, and despite the Beretta's mechanics and your stature, the recoil must be pretty sharp.
Guest
These edgar brother are very dopey indeed. They reckon that if I put a pistol grip on My Hatsan it is illegal so I just showed them the video of my modified pistol grip Mossberg 500 and they were like: wow! :-o I think I will be luckier to make a chicken talk than getting accessories from these guys. Guest
Ok so all the high and mighty Beretta owners here, what mods can I get for a Beretta?
Jim Sarakun
I understand you can get a modification that makes them work properly, Yes you can, it's called: "someone who can shoot" Fortunately this modification is also available for most guns, though very few owners choose to fit it. Well im not in norfolk and I want to keep my shoes and shirt. And I hate to say it but it is gun snobery, just because I have a cheap (and functional) gun does that make me a lesser person Lesser person? Perish the thought. Why buy a gun you wont use because you are afraid of damaging it, something the cheaply made overpriced Beretta is prone to. Probably why most Beretta owners keep them in a cabinet and use a Datsun. starlight32
Ok so all the high and mighty Beretta owners here, what mods can I get for a Beretta? Go for a gun that is already styled in the manner you require- you can get for example the Benelli super nova pump in black synthetic with pistol grip stock, extended mag on FAC brand new with change out of 500 quid. The same in the 11-87's,1100's and all the others. A pistol grip stock on a shotgun are only really a novelty for the sporting shooter, as they have very little benefit, they are normally only untilized on firearms issued to the military or police. If you want to talk about snobbery, try taking your hatsan with pistol grip stock to a practical shotgun event-I think you will experience a bit of put down even in that field of shooting when you are in company of Beretta,Benelli and remington users......... MC
Ok so all the high and mighty Beretta owners here, what mods can I get for a Beretta? There are no modifications needed, they just work properly, look right and above all else they will last the distance. You wouldn't get offered a 10 year warranty on a datsun hatstand in a million years. Baldrick, You are right 66gr cartridges hurt even through a semi, If I can find any I will bring them over next wednesday. You can try for yourself. That is unless my Beretta has suffered badly from wear and tear in the next week. Or it may have suffered damaged like the overpriced ones are prone to
Spaniel
You leave us Escort Camo boys alone, nothing wrong with having a nice cheap semi auto, mine comes out alot more then the SP3 which seems to sit in the cupboard these days. I think all the mods i have seen are from the USA and of course they aint legal over here... I think we should have an Escort members only club,

I have an appointment with the dentist today, and I don't want to have to see him again for at least another year. There is a very irritating local who flies a paraplane over the farm, usually on quiet summer afternoons. Those 66g loads would bring him down cleanly. Guest
Well I guess in the end it comes down to a preference/financial isue whether you should buy a cheaper gun or a more expensive one.
MC
Not really, It comes down to whether you want a gun that will last, do the job that you want it for and above all else shoot well. A decent resale value is always worth considering. My Beretta is a synthetic stock 3 1/2" gun that is used on the marsh from september to february, has spent a night in the sea and still performs faultlessly after 5 years and has very little signs of wear. It is still probably worth £550 - 600. How many datsuns will be worth 70% of their cost price at 5 years old? if they are still working. I have shot in small clay comps against people with brownings, berretas and even a purdy, my escort perforrmed exactly the same as all those other guns, ok it may not look as nice as the purdy or handle the same but it does the same job at a fraction of the price
ShropshireJohn
MC your nuts No way I'd be willing to take a gun out thats worth as much money as your Beretta. I can take the Hatsan out knowing that it only cost a fraction of the price therefore I don't mind damaging it too much or getting it wet. A question for all the Hatsan HATERS on the forum, I assume your views on Baikal shotguns are the same as the Hatsan?
paulos
Baikals are built like tanks. Hatsans are built in a similar manner to those small toys found in kinder eggs.

A question for all the Hatsan HATERS on the forum, I assume your views on Baikal shotguns are the same as the Hatsan? And you say I'm nuts? That statement is a bit like saying I wouldn't drive an Aston Martin. My Beretta was cheap compared to my other shotgun or my fullbore target rifle. They were both abouot 4 times that price. The gun is a tool for the sport that I love,Wildfowling. I knew right from the start that it was going to get abused, which is why I bought a decent gun. There is absolutely no point buying a cheap gun for a hostile enviroment and then having it fail when you are one the flight of your life. What is the worst that will happen to a gun when you are out shooting? It may get scratched, big deal. Baikals are great, if is was a toss up between a baikal and 10 escorts the baikal would win. I used to work for the company that imported baikals into the country and have shot all of them. I was clay shooting with a guy last night who has had one for nearly 20 years and although it now looks old it performs faultless aver and over again. I don't hate datsans, I just would not buy one.
