Cranfield
I have a tyre foot pump which I seem to have been using a lot lately, with topping up wheelbarrow, sack barrow and trailer tyres. All of which is hard work. I noticed today that there is a small electric tyre pump, that fits in a vehicles cigarette lighter plug and they seem quite cheap. Has anyone got one, or used one, are they any good ?

highdowns hunter
Cranfield I have one of those little pumps, only a few quid from the market, They work very well for what they cost, and great in an emergency but i would not trust the gauge . Not much good for blowing up paddling pools or kiddies bouncy castles though
barrie0
I have got a halfords electric pump with lcd pressure screen , I use it all the time on my car and hers and also at work for the ride on tyres and sometimes the works van . Dead easy to use set the pressure to what you want it to be connect to the tyre valve and switch it on , saves popping down the garage all the time and also your legs with a manual one , it cost me around £18 a couple of years ago . Cranfield
Thanks for the comments Gentlemen. I have had a quick look at the Halfords one on the Internet, that seems to be over £30 now. Perhaps a cheapo one will be more my style.
ernyha
I have a cheap one that plugs into the cig. sockets and although it has no gauge built in (I use a seperate one) I find it great for topping up the tyres and for emergency use if required. pete evans
i have used an electric fag lighter pump for my float tube and it takes ages. for high pressure low volume they are good but for low pressure high volume (like the float tube) then there not the best. rjimmer
I've used them to pump up tractor tyres, no problem. The pressures aren't very high, but 'feel the width'! Don't rush out and buy the first one you find, unless it is cheap. All sorts of deals turn up, especially in LIDL's!
mel b3
they're worth their weight in gold , you can get them near me for £8 but i've seen them even cheaper than that.
Axe
Yeah they work great, but has been said get a decent gauge to check the pressures. I used to use mine in the field before entering comps on trials bike. Had to use one on the car once and it seemed to take an eternity and got a li'l hot too. But hey, it was a freebie and saved me messing around. Regards, Axe.
lurcherboy
Sam Spares, Herne Bay last year £17-99. It will pump upto 8 bar (eventually) and has proved itself indispensible when off roading on the really soft ****e. LB
longnetter
Cranfield, regarding the tyre pump for £30.00 in Halfords, they were £18.00 but they are now £30.00, I GUESS THAT'S INFLATION FOR YOU! :(
