you gonna argue with that?!

In all honesty though, I take my victories where I know they count. My gun wasn't one of those, as I said it goes bang and hits things (mostly-ish, sometimes) my car and the holidays, what dog we were having etc etc. Let them win the ones they think are important then you get your way more often without tantrums.

Waited for nearly 15 minutes today for an escort shooter to clear the stand.....We just sat down, had a cigar and watched the melee' unfold.

All you kept hearing was jam -'sorry about this',jam 'so sorry' And finally 'Damn, the choke's right loose'

I noticed he also doffed his cap as he was leaving the stand-Must have been the old 686 leaving him inspired.

I would also like to know why do most Hatsan owners wear British DPM's to a clay ground and drive a suzuki jimny?

Just noticed the pattern today.Thought it was worth a mention.

Anyone care to elaborate?

I too have noticed Escort owners' love of the Jimny. Have they no shame?

Yes, they are the epitome of 'Marmite guns'. And I hate them.

OY!

I have a Jimny.........No Escort in my cabinet :hmm:...... EVER

Good god man,

Lower myself to taking a 687 in a hide or rough shooting? It is a SO6 EELL or Paters old Holland dear boy. You have a lot to learn about etiquette

Outstanding.

MC,Balders,

We are wasting our time your average Hatsan owner thinks an SO6 is a division of the security service and an old Holland is a part of pre war Europe

This does remind me of the stigma that used to come with owning a Baikal.

I like to stand out, would rather have a crappy gun and hit stuff then be one of those with a nice Krieghoff or Beretta with all the gear and no idea.

Ok I'd also like to be someone with a nice gun that does hit stuff too, I can be inwardly green of those nice and pricey guns.

ultimately if it works (which mine does, currently) i'm happy. As soon as it fails me then it will be on it's way.

I wondered how long it would be before the "I beat all the guys with krieghoffs every sunday morning with my rusty hatstand" brigade came out to play.

There is no stigma attached to owning a Baikal, they are fine guns well built and last years with no issues. I certainly regret selling mine.

You can't deny there are some out there with more money than talent. But note I did say I wouldn't object to owning one of those either.

Mine was a purely finacial choice. A rough gun for a throw away price (£140 i've wasted more on a meal out).

Now my brother buying one brand new I would have opted for a second hand something else probably.

someone i shoot with uses one to good effect. hits most things, from the end of the barrel to very long shots, all with the cyl choke. not had a jam of any kind when i have been with him. only problem he has had was the stock falling off on more than one occasion. easy fixed by replacing the standard nut with a stainless nyloc. 28g 7's prima 70mm fibre all day long with it and he has loads of confidence with it.

i have had a browning gold that had the odd jam up on shorter carts and my beretta does not the prima's as i have has 3 in the last 2 weeks that have jammed. only with these prima's though.

Phil.

Sounds like your typical Datsun owner to me Phil.

As for the nyloc nut, top of the pops I say, top of the pops. Good use of initiative and aforethought here. The B word gun owner would be straight in the gun shop for a £100 fix.

Albeit a rare occurrence, anything going wrong with this amazing gun I mean, what seems to be unfolding here is that the average Datsun owner, is a practical, thrifty man, who can fix these rare problems and save yet more money.

Not adverse to applying common sense to a problem and rolling up his sleeves to get the job done. Admirable.

Take note you B word gun owners, next time your gun fails, just ask the nearest Datsun owner to sort it for you.

Jim as you're an expert would you care to offer the OP a bit of DIY advice for what to do when your barrel explodes? Is it simpler to get the grinder out and wop a few inches off the end or simply look for another bit of pipe down your local plumbers merchant B)

Strangely enough the stock has never fell off my Beretta, maybe because it is well made and the italians thought about it and put a nyloc nut on there to start with.

Oddly also my barrel has never exploded nor any other fault has developed. Still it is slightly annoying to get beaten by someone down the clay ground who has a rusty old hatstand that will only ever fire one shot until the owner bangs it on a tree to get it to cycle

Stop making me spill my coffe. Are you and Baldrick stalking me?

To answer your question, this is a precision piece of equipment we are talking about here and you have just described a very doubtful scenario for this gun, one more in keeping with one made with Italian steel.

In the completely unlikely event of this happening there is a perfectly adequate warranty to take advantage of.

A Bennelli owner I know has short shiny copper colored barrels on his shotgun, so thank you for answering the question that I was going to ask him.
