Today was THE Day

Well, we knew it might happen but did not know when.

After watching a number of fields on thursday & friday; we decided to give the recently cut wheat fields a try this morning.

We arrived at 6.30am and sat watching for a good hour. We noticed that a number of birds were dropping onto old barley stubbles in greater numbers than the wheat.

We decided to set up 2 hides , the boys on the barley and us on the wheat.

The boys started shooting before we had set our hide up. The pigeons just kept coming over that road and splitting as they topped the trees.

Some to us and some to them.

Unfortunately for us; we had to set up with the wind straight in our faces and the sun in our eyes. It was a bit hard going but by 4.00pm the clouds had started to blot the sun out and we managed to get a healthy bag going.

The boys were having a field day and we left them to it.

We stopped shooting at 19.30pm and our joint bag was 372.

The birds were still trying to decoy at that time.

We shot 138 and they had 234. Top shooting there boys and very well done.

The poor dogs are now zonked out and dead to the world.

And i am having a couple of them

:good:
