codling99
wierd i must have missed en lol, winged it with 12 bore, then shot it with silenced 410 at about 20 yds rather than chase it round field, and it didnt touch it,so shot it with 12 instead
ShropshireJohn
Crows are tough Bas****s though, I've shot them with the 12 before and had to put another 1-2 shots into some
Edward
point blank range at a crow 20 yds with 3 inch cart ,and it hopped off Things are getting tougher these days, I have had shot proof pigeons and an invincible collard dove that looked very dead and it got up and flew away B)
TonySmith
Using Fiocchi 19g-6 'Magnum' I get em at 30 yds plus, crows a bit quirky...unless a full pattern hit.......
rjimmer
i have just picked up a baikal 410 and a few 3"magnum 16g 6's what kill range can i expect on rabbit On the back of the old Gun Lisense the effective ranges were given as 15 yards for a .410 and 35 yards for a 12 bore. I don't think much has changed since then, appart from an increase in shooters' disposable income, hence an increase in the number of wasted shots at longer ranges. Fatcatsplat
Bought a 410 for my daughter to use - Absolute waste of time (at least in my hands anyway!!)
dodeer
Whilst I'm not condoning out of range shots or inexperienced shooters using a gun they dont really know to shoot at quarry at extended ranges, but I have seen a man, who is a superb shot with a .410 s/s , pull down very cleanly some high birds (45 yards) at his shoot in Somerset. Any person who comes from the West Country and knows Haddeo will know who I'm on about.
Edward
Bought a 410 for my daughter to use - Absolute waste of time (at least in my hands anyway!!) Depends what you are shooting, In John Batleys books he writes about 2 blokes who shot 300 odd pigeon over 2 days with .410s B)

Took it to JJ's and while i am nowhere near he best shot in the world (If only they went down to F class!!) i couldn't hit anything with it other than very, very near incoming and going away targets. Might have been the way i shoot, but found it personally very ineffective and completely wrong as a child's starter gun - Would have rocked her confidence before she had any

Emmsy
ive shot clays at 70 yards with a silenced .410 so i see no reason why you couldnt cleanly kill a pigeon at 35+ yards.
pigglet
With 3 inch carts should younot have a similar effective range to a 12 or 20 gauge? Just a much tighter patter as most 410's are fully choked??? I have dropped pigeons and maggies at 35+yds no probs.
