  1. Thanks @Welsh Andy! Glad you are enjoying it
  2. Thanks ! Reply on the way 👍🙂
  3. 😁 no nor the ram for that matter just to show the breed 🙂
  4. Sold quite a lot of these on PW now! On Monday I've sent in another batch of lambs, they will be picked up and shipped either this Thursday for delivery Friday, or for delivery end of next week. It depends a bit on butchers schedule with the bank holiday which I hadn't counted on messing schedules up!! These are rare-breed Barbados Blackbelly crossed with Wiltshire Horn sheep. As slower growing breeds, they are lot leaner than most commercial sheep. A half lamb box weighs around 6kg so it works out around £12/kg, with a half lamb box at £75 and a whole lamb box at £145 including parcelforce delivery to your home. They will be packed with icepacks and wool insulation, to keep them chilled and are cut to the spec below. These lambs are a little smaller than the ones I would usually send, so you may get an extra cut to make up the weight to give an average lamb box weight of 6kg and 12kg for whole. If you live locally (Trowbridge, Wilts) I can offer non-contact delivery, and save on parcelforce fee etc. Whole shoulders on bone Whole legs on bone Loin Chops (done as Barnsley chops) Rack french trim Breast - mince
  5. There has been a sustained break, and although it has been quite refreshing not having it on the forum. Raja is correct. On the terms he suggested we are willing to let this one have another chance, but it could be brief. We have closed two previous threads, and this thread will be closed without warning if it goes the same way. There have been enough warnings, and this post is the only one this topic is getting.

    Lamb Meat Boxes

Just to confirm to everyone, I am picking these lambs up tomorrow morning first thing, and shipping them out same day. They are going Parcelforce24hr, and you should get a text to your phone on the morning of delivery (Thursday) with a 1hr delivery slot. Many thanks Will
  10. Sorry to hear Cranfield, that is bad news. Hopefully she will mount a good recovery from it, even at this stage there is a good chance of she will recover fully, it must be a stressful time for you all. Sending best wishes. As above I think it is reasonable to assume most infections at the moment are being picked up in care-homes and hospitals, as despite precautions people are sharing contained environment with constant introduction of new staff/patients.
  11. Because they are terrified of being associated with the F-word. Fail. Perceived failure is so toxic that people go to great lengths, and expense to project success, even if the implications of 'fail' are minor. In this instance both sides will argue they are right about testing numbers, but the truth is that the number at the moment is fairly irrelevant. They didn't meet it, but the capacity has been ramped up hugely and is in place going forward, that is the real story and is an achievement. But mud sticks, so they presented things in a way that they could tenuously state they had made their commitment. The situation has brought home to me, how we as a population are also terrified of death. Combine the two issues, a pandemic that kills people, and a toxic dislike of failure (regardless of what), and you have a potent cocktail. Where everyone has to be right and no-one can afford to exhibit failure of any sort.
  12. Doing 100k tests a day the media has been clamouring for ever since the Govt said target is fairly meaningless. Whether it's 120k or actually 73k (and in my view its the latter). If you look at the positive results, they show only a very small increase in positive results despite the massive increase in testing. The covid-positive result rate has gone down from 35-45% to sub 10%. Given the increase in big increase in testing is mostly towards those displaying active symptoms, it shows we have either a group of people who are either stupid (and think this will tell them they had Covid infection at a previous time which has cleared up) or hypochondriacs. Of course some of the increased testing will be routine of frontline NHS, which is to be applauded, but that is only a proportion. The increase in testing is a good thing to have in the pipeline going forward so anyone needs it can have, which certainly was the case earlier on when people did need testing but had not access to it, but the benefits of it at this precise moment are v. limited.

    Lamb Meat Boxes

Ah you will be pleased! These lambs were born mid-April onwards last year, so are almost exactly year old. I agree with you about early lambs... People call them different things, but in my book a lamb only becomes a hogget when they push their adult teeth, and none of these have 🙂 but some people take an arbitrary date, but this doesn't take into account when lamb was born... Anyway hope that helps, thanks everyone for orders!! Been blown away but still have some more to sell 🙂 Thanks Ben 👍 I have your details from last time Brill will reply! Courier no problems 🙂
  16. You'll have to transfer/store guns with a friend, or lodge them with an RFD. Not cheap if you've got a few!! Almost no chance they can do it in 2 weeks, usually they ask for 8 weeks. Just got mine renewed, and I was in similar boat - ended up storing guns with a friend. Each county has a different interpretation of GP requirement, Wiltshire are fine with just the application form filled out. Don't know about Glos.

  18. Sold quite a lot of these on PW now! On Monday I've sent in another batch of lambs, I will be picking them up next Wednesday for delivery Thursday 7th May. These are rare-breed Barbados Blackbelly sheep. A slower growing, "unimproved" breed, they are lot leaner than most commercial sheep. A half lamb box weighs around 6kg so it works out around £12/kg, with a half lamb box at £75 and a whole lamb box at £145 including parcelforce delivery to your home. They will be packed with icepacks and wool insulation, to keep them chilled and are cut to the spec below. 19. This is correct. I think people are forgetting the Govts of the world 'saved' the economy in 2008. By printing money and spending on a massive scale. It's not capitalism, and is a completely broken system, but its all they know. They are doing the same now on a bigger scale. In the immediate term cash is what you want but we're not far away from seeing it's value eroded. Any blip in property or other genuine assets is temporary. Longer term we're all getting poorer. Stock market is a joke, it's only where it is because America has ploughed in trillions. For now the central banks have ammunition, but when that runs low or if inflation starts running away from them, that's when the world ends!
  20. Think more realistic that supplies of stock are going to run out. I am down to the last 2 bergara folding seats and the distributor/importer has shut down operations for foreseeable. If people are trading they will be running down their own inventories, as I don't think much resupply is going to happen soon.

    Panic buying

There has just been a nationwide stunt pulled on anyone selling lambs at market, and effectively taken a third off the price. The Govt are now letting the supermarkets talk to each other they are working together, they don't have to bid against each other, bet the shop price won't change, probably will go up!

    Economic impact.

I'm not as doom as most. This will pass, and when it does there is going to be an almighty bounce. Albeit from a much lower base. But once that bounce starts everything will be heading in the right direction. 2-3 years stockmarkets will be higher than they were before this all started - all the money the Govt (the US esp) has pumped in, has to go somewhere. They have put in trillions of $, they propped up the world in 2008 and they are trying to do it again. Money worth less of course, so also don't count on genuine assets going down in value. QE is not capitalism but it's all the Governments know. Someone wrote on another topic when to start investing, and the answer is when everyone stops reacting negatively to bad news, then you can be confident you are near the trough.

    Lockdown

Well I reckon in my scenario you don't differentiate at all, I think you just give every adult a payment, it's a fixed rate and an extra allowance for dependents. Super simple, super fast. It would have been better if the govt had done this. Some may not need it, but you could either deduct this from a future payment if things get more targeted or just think of it as a stimulus package. No-one would miss out and the money could go out almost instantaneously accross the country.

    Lockdown

You are right but they need to get this money out to people ASAP. And they can only do that if they keep it super simple. Even if it was a one-off bonus payment of £500 per adult, that buys them time to sort out a better package in a month or so's time. It'll come to less than many of the bailouts, and this is going to citizens of the country, and for the most part it'll be ploughed back into the economy. To be honest think after a couple of weeks and with greater shutdowns coming, most of the population would be very happy if they were a key worker and leave their house - but I take your points.
