  1. What a lot of people don't realise, is that their household insurance often covers household members for P/L while engaged in recreational / domestic sports activities away from home / in public. Our household had a situation where my 20yr son was riding his m/c safely along a road, and two silly teenagers on skate boards shot off the pavement in front of him. Nick served to avoid running over them, skidded and lost the bike (write-off) and broke his leg. Kids and parents tried to deny any responsibility and refused to investigate if they had any insurance in their H/H policy - so a court summons focused them and eventually they conceded and handed the case over to their H/H insurers, who did indeed settle in full £7,500 for bike cost, personal injury, time off work etc etc. Just because a cyclist / pedestrian / roller skater etc may not have dedicated insurance does not mean to say they may not have cover in general clauses of other policies, ie travel insurance / sports insurance / household etc may have been taken out to cover other specifics, but still contain cover that is valid for the accident that arises. Faced with the prospect of having to fight a court case and potentially have to find £1000's in compensation from their own pockets, defendants suddenly find they DID have insurance after all and pass the claim on.
  2. Mandel side ported extended Escort skeet (1/8th choke). Fits in place of std flush choke, but extra length gives improved pattern edge definitions and porting helps control first barrel muzzle flip. New and un-used, £29-95 delivered.
  3. You are not at all stuffed. Issue a counter claim for your damage in the County Court. Then a case will be heard with any witnesses ( and you have some) providing evidence. County Court Claims are processed on the "balance of probability", so if your defendant has no corroborating evidence to his claim you caused the accident, but you do - or their story when examined just does not add up, the case will be found in your favour and their claim goes out the window. If you loose, the most you can loose on top of what-ever he is already claiming will be the summons fee. Insurance companies risk ***** claims, and if its cheaper to buy some-one off, even if the claim is spurious, with a £1000 or so pay out, rather than a legal team fighting it, they will capitulate and cough - but as an individual you can fight it at low cost yourself, with little to loose other than some time.

  7. Depending on the age of your gun, Lanber had two different choke systems, and you will need to ID which type you want. Newer Landers have chokes with 4 recess slots for a key. Older Lanbers had a small exposed area for gripping with a C wrench or hand tightening. As Lanber went bust and stopped producing about a year ago, original spares including chokes are hard to come by now, but both choke types are available in the aftermarket by Mandel. www.####.co.uk lists them

  9. Certainly, if you can beg, buy or borrow a reamer the results are quick and precise, and its the Pro way to do this. U-tube If you thread a barrel for M/C, or port it etc, proofing is required, but shortening barrels or reaming out no further than Cy in the choked area does not. If you have any doubt, ring the Proof House for advice. Note, shortening is another way of opening up - cutting barrels back beyond the choked area gives cy and cy, and if you have an inside gauge, you can shorten just enough to remove part of the taper and thereby open up progressively as you shorten. This method may have issues with bead / rib, but is a way of salvaging barrels with choke issues, ie, turn a blown M/C into Cy and Cy for skeet etc.
  10. You cannot put metal back, so you could "over-open" against the results you want, which is why testing the choke output at stages as you let the choke out would be beneficial. Other possibility would be uneven relief, i.e. oval! Thats just a matter of ensuring you turn the barrels as you grind so pressure goes around evenly.
  11. Its not difficult to open chokes with home equipment - an electric drill, home made mandrel, wet and dry paper and a Vernier gauge. Take a piece of pipe, steel / alloy / brass, does not matter as long as rigid. About 8mm dia, but anything that will fit your drill chuck will do. about 4" long and cut a hacksaw slot 2" down it. Cut a patch of 80 grit wet and dry and put it through the slot and spin the drill against the barrel wall. Using it wet, and measuring regularly, take off 9th for every choke increment you want. Cy is 0.729 dia ;- 1/4 0.720 etc The choked area is usually about 2" long, so make sure you are cutting back into the barrel and not just flaring the end. When down to size, polish with increasingly fine grade of W&D. Takes a bit of time and effort, but costs little to DIY If you can, its worth patterning the gun BEFORE you mod it, as choke sizes recorded on the gun may not be what its delivering now. Find out TRUE choking before modifying, as many guns throw patterns widely different from what is recorded on the barrels.

    ejector spring

Pattern springs can be adapted by shortening, as long as the O/D and I/D are correct, and the spring tension is sufficient. General purpose springs may not be hard enough - or stand up to the heat generated , but are an acceptable solution if nothing else available, but could have limited life. Also, if you have the spring measures, you will almost certainly find compatible or shortenable ejector springs form other makes will adapt or work, and these will be hard enough for purpose. Original spares spares are available (from me, www.####.co.uk) for I Rizzini and B Rizzini guns ( Cheshire Guns) - but not E Rizzini - the old E-R's are obsolete in terms of original spares now as production stopped over 20 years ago. if you are asking for / seeking Rizzini spares you need to specify WHICH of the Rizzini clan made the gun as there are several:- Rizzinis and Lincolns Lincoln: David Nickerson of Louth imported guns from various sources for many decades and branded them either Nickerson or Lincoln. Some early Lincolns like the folding poacher’s models are Acciaio Vickers guns. The popular Lincoln no 2 sideplate was a re-branded E Rizzini gun, and the later Lincolns are I Rizzini (FAIR) guns. David retired in 2008 and the import of Lincoln guns was taken over by John Rothery aka Bisley / Parker Hale brands, who continues to supply these FAIR guns under the Lincoln Brand. B Rizzini: First there is the maker, Battista Rizzini, who has a modern, well-equipped factory in Italy's Gardone valley gunmaking quarter near Brescia. The company was founded in 1965, and makes good-quality shotguns and over-under double rifles. B Rizzinis are extensively distributed in the USA. B Rizzin’s use parts that are unique to this brand as well as parts supplied from the FAIR factory, viz I Rizzini and B Rizzini use the same choke systems. F Rizzini: Then there is F. lli Rizzini, which translates as 'Rizzini Brothers'. Headed up by Guido Rizzini, they, too, are in the Gardone region, where they are reputed to produce only 25 guns a year, each to the highest standards. Each one is said to be a one-off masterpiece. G Rizzini: Guido, founder of F.Illi Rizzini I Rizzini: There is also Isidoro Rizzini, whose company is better known as FAIR. This factory distributes its home production as Rizzini – while UK exports are branded Lincoln, and German Exports Rottweil. Production has also been made under Savage Arms branding. E Rizzini: Emilio made budget-priced guns like the E Rizzini No 2 sideplate, ( also sold as the Lincoln No2) as well as many better-quality guns. Emilio retired and sold out to another Brescia area company, Fausti Stefano. The new E. Rizzini’s are Fausti guns and new parts are not compatible with the popular older No2 series from the 1980’s and earlier. All of the gunmaking Rizzinis are closely related. Battista, Isidoro, and Emilio are brothers, and they are nephews of Guido and his brothers who founded F. lli Rizzini. The Rizzini clan is also related to the Fausti family of gunmakers. Another relative is Caesar Guerini, yet another Brescia-area gunmaker who makes higher grade sporters and trap guns. FAIR srl: Established in 1971. FAIR (Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini, which translates as 'Isidoro Rizzini's Arms Factory' This factory sells guns branded as Rizzini; and exports the same guns branded as Lincolns, Rottweil and Savage ( to USA). GASPERINI: These guns look almost identical to E Rizzini guns, but are made by Prandelli FIAS srl: FIAS is an abbreviation for Fabbrica Italiana Armi Sabatti. This Italian gun maker distributes as Sabatti, but also makes other branded guns, notably the Browning Medallist.
