  1. I want impress some friends with some new recipes for the bbq, got anything good. My favorite is Bonned Leg of good lamb studded with garlic and rosemary, takes about 20 mins to cook over a medium heat. Then anyone who likes their lamb well done cut from the thinner end and for the best way, pink cut from the thicker end. The boning out is very simple as well just start where the meat is thinnest out follow the bone. And another good one for a starter or if you let veggies in your house. Put Asparagus in boiling in water for about 30 secs then on a hot BBQ till done, serve on some nice ciabatta bread rubbed with garlic on one side before toasting on the BBQ, drizzel with olive oil and a squease of lemon and a few Parmmesan shaving.
  2. There was a topic about this happening in Cornwall here it is. He has found quite a few foxes on his patch down Helston that behave very differently to others.
  3. Heres the first few of my favs i can think of. Outlaw Josey Wales Saving Private Ryan Blues Brothers Gladiator
  4. If Man O Woods does not want it can i have next offer of it please. Thanks Rimmy
  5. Thanks, i shoot a few farms and campsites around Perranporth, i own a campsite so as we get closer to the school holidays i get more and more busy with less time for shooting
  6. I have to sort out some Jackdaws and Crows that are helping themselves to pig food when it is put out for them. There can be upto about 20 of them at one time. Because of where they are in the field i think this is air rifle only shooting and you must have insurance and be safe. This is not to far from Perranporth. I would do it myself but have little time on my hands at the moment. It would be an early start to be in place before feed time. PM me for more details. This could lead to a bit more shooting. As I have had a call from a lady who has about 12 acres of paddocks near Redruth and wants the rabbits cleared. I will either do it with my Rimfires or it may be better for an air rifle, if thats the case i will pass it on. Rimmy
  7. Just worndering if anyone was going to Wadebridge for the Cornwall Show this year, i am up there on Thursday.
  8. Three pubs within 2 miles of me do a beer festival, all with a bit of live music, first one does Pie & Ale, second Sausage and Ale, third plain ale. They all have lots of fantastic ale from around the country from small brewerys the pie and ale festival had more than 80 different ales to try. I tried my best but sadly did not manage them all over the weekend.
  9. Try some of the great beer from Cornwall Try anything from these: Skinners Brewery St Austell Brewery Sharps Brewery Some great tastes from all the different ales.
  10. I have used these before, nice cards have helped me get some shooting in the past.
  11. They are usally nice people and there are lots of small farms still, instead of huge 1000 acre jobs. I always give my farmers a couple of pork chops everytime i have a pig go to slaughter, they seem to really like the touch and keep me in mind when they need help with the vermin.
  12. I have managed to get another permission about 2 miles from my house. I went to a local farmers market bought a bit of meat then on for some salad and potatos, i got chatting to the guy selling it and i happened to bring up rabbits and how he might have trouble with them and he does. I quickly offered my help in sorting them out. He said it would be great for me to shoot them on his farm (55 acres). He then asked me to come and have a look and see what i could do about them, and could i meet him that evening at the farm. I have a few farms i shoot at and it has always hard work getting permission to shoot, now i had a farmer offering me veg in return for my time. I jumped at the chance and met him that evening. He showed my around pointed out problem areas, and there were quite a few rabbits around. He left me to it and i had a walk around with the Ruger .22 rimfire as dusk was setting in. The first field was in grass to be cut for hay. But as i was walking very slowly, a rabbit moved out of the long grass to the edge where it was shorter, about 50 yards away i lined up and dropped it where it was, the noise from my rifle with the SAK mod was just enough to scare another rabbit into the shorter grass and i give him the good news as well. I wanted to make a good impression on my first outing and in the end of my first walk around gave me 10 rabbits hanging on the fence around the farm. I started my walk to collect the rabbits and spotted a big rabbit about 80 yards out i had a fence post close by so a nice leaning shot, a well placed shot that was his lot, then another 2 rabbits appeared by the dead one 2 more shots 2 more rabbits in the bag. So a total bag of 13 rabbits. I hung the rabbits on a stick put them over my sholder and walked back. Just goes to show how effective the .22 rimfire can be, i will take my 17 hmr there when the rabbits wise up a bit or the farmer wants me to sort a certain field, which i would do from a static point on the bipod. I met the farmer as i got back to my truck, he was extremely happy and gave new some lovely new potatos. In the next few days i will take the lamp and see how that goes.
  13. If you have no luck and decide to post the bits, can i have first go. Thanks Rimmy
  14. I agree this work well in mine, cci were trouble.
  15. Hello. Nice to see another pw member from the southwest.
  16. I am in the market for a new lamp to go on my .22 lr and .17 hmr, needs to be dimmable so i can use it on either rifle. I lamp a lot on my own so want something i can mount on my rifle. Anyone got one they no longer need?
  17. The RSPCA sometimes do a good job, the mistreated dog or cat or so we are told. But some of them think they are above the law and try and use powers of entry that they do not have, i personly would not give them the time of day.
  18. Does the base fold up for tranportation.
  19. I have to clear quite a few moles, here is the way i do it my not be the best way but works for me. Find a tunnel inbetween mole hills, i do this by using a length of cane pushing it in the ground working around a mole hill when it gives you have found a tunnel. I then use a sharp knife and cut out a square shape in the turf big enough for the trap to fit in. Then i set the trap across the run with the tunnel either side of the sissors making sure the tunnels have not been blocked by my digging, if they have i clear them with my fingers. Make sure you have dirty hands to lose your smell, i then sprinkel a bit of dirt back in the whole to cover my smell then cut the turf i took out and fit it around the top of the trap, lastly heap more dirt on from a mole hill over it to cut out any further light. Using traps that have been left out or buried for a few days will help. You can always pm me if you want any further help. Good luck
  20. I was brought up just up the road in Penn, i still go back to see the inlaws and friends . Wycombe i think is now just a dump. Glad i moved 300 miles away
  21. They are Red Kites, some were first released in the 80s i think, since them they have increased in numbers a hell of a lot. Fantastic to see them, i have friends around that area and you can sometimes see 20 odd kites circuling on a thermal.
  22. I see Horrocks by your list of guns you have some de-ac stuff. Helston Gunsmiths is the place for you, they have a big range of guns including a lot of de-ac guns. As you say difficult to miss with 6 tanks parked outside. Enjoy your stay down here.
  23. Changed my Sak mod for a Wildcat Whisper. I think it has made a good differance to the over all noise output.
