  1. I have sold shot before but it's not really my thing. The kick was developing the system but now it's so efficient I knocked out another 30kilos tonight waiting for the missus to come home from work. I'd just prefer the space for other projects now, but there is a real lot of work gone into making it. Think it took a week to put together once the final design was decided and this included getting the stainless pots tigged by a chap in Northampton. The drippers are all stainless too, a cow to produce but very durable. The electrical system is made up of off the shelf parts so easily replaced in time
  2. Now I have enough shot to easily last the rest of my life there doesn't seem much point in making more so I was going to see about selling all my shotmaking kit. I developed this over several months and it has stainless pots and infinitely variable heat control that can produce A KILO OF SHOT PER MINUTE at full tilt. it also has a recirculating pump for the coolant and comes with an adapted cement mixer for tumbling and polishing the shot. I made several prototypes to get to this stage, but I'm not really sure what to ask for it. It comes with 12 drippers for 6 or 7 shot and 6 drippers for 5s. I also have 100kilos of linotype to mix with the lead for hardening, enough for half a ton of shot. What do you reckon I should be asking for it
  3. 20G moderated is the way to go, it shares most of the virtues of both .410 and 12g. I love mine and have had some incredible shots with it
  4. I have tried that recipe and found it to be far slower than the stated velocity along with quite a variation in velocity. I have cured a similar problem in .410 by adding a small amount more powder (1grain), which created enough pressure to make it burn properly turning it into a very even and consistent load but never pursued this with the 12g. Any light 20g subsonic loads (less than 28gram)would be appreciated on this thread too
  5. I never said otherwise, but I wanted to know exactly what the finish is
  6. What exactly is that finish? Certainly not blued, seems more like paint and not very durable Just wondering how I can maintain it, only had it a day and it's scratched to *******.
  7. I put another 50kg into a bucket this morning, chucked in a bowl of water, stirred it with a stick a bit and poured it thru a sieve, job done and it smells nice too
  8. These are the best examples I can manage trying to photo something that is small and reflective. Hope you can see what you are looking for
  9. I just mix print type into a pot of molten lead at a ratio of 1-4, then when the type is melted I flux it with small piece of candlewax (10mm cube) which is lit to stop it smoking then stirred in to pull all the **** out. It's then skimmed and poured into muffin tray ingots
  10. Todays effort 75kg of No6 in a couple of hours (and a few evenings alloying the lead with type face to harden it)
  11. This is where you start, http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=15776 only 30 pages to get thru with plenty of red herrings to confuse you. I would suggest tracking down some linotype to harden it a little too. Other than that I do sell some of what I make for £2.50 a kilo 7s thru to 5s.
  12. I have a 25 yr old Kershaw that I was given as a teenager, fantastic knife and still good as new really but I have lost count of the times I have put it down whilst gutting and left it there. The last time was when we had snow and it was lost under it for nearly a fortnight so I think next time I will get a knife I can afford to lose. As far as dressing pigeons go I get packs of four kitchen/veg knives from Morrisons for £1 that are sharp and bendy and ideal for taking the breastmeat off. No need for anything else.
  13. I don't understand the point of using silosock jackets over standard shell decoys and I don't see how they would move about like normal silosocks Could someone explain please.
  14. You want me to reload unknown components :look: Who's going to buy me a new gun when this one goes pop?
  15. Just wondering what the safest and most legal way of disposing of the odd few live primers. Didn't think the dustbin was a good idea though I do put empty cases and used primers in there. What's the best option :look:
  16. I am using 28g of no5 out of my moderated 20g Hushpower but my cartridges are subsonic so each pellet would have less knock down power compared to a standard cartridge and because the pellets are relatively large the pattern should be thin in theory but it still knocks em clean dead at 35-40yds if I do my bit. My point is that a normal speed cartridge could probably do the same with a much lighter load of smaller shot due to the increased kinetic that a faster pellet would carry.
  17. Do you own one aswell, if so how have you found it to shoot with?
  18. 7 1/4" diameter That's the same size as a tea plate Are you sure you didn't mean circumference, which divided by Pi would make it 2.3" diameter or 58mm ATB SiH
  19. What is the diameter of the tube on it It looks really big on S+G's site.
  20. To be honest the 20g Hushpower is the only shottie I ever take out now. It only has one barrel I know but it is discreet and will kill all I need to at good ranges without echoing around the county with every shot. They do tend to shoot low so I have fixed a short 6mm high rib at the breech end of the tube to align with the bead and lift my point of aim up so that I am back on zero. I notice Greenhunter that you have the o/u version, how do you find it and is the tube as massive as it looks?
  21. Best to reload your own but if you can't most clay clubs seem to sell Hull Cartridge subsonic fibre 23g 7 1/2s which are fine for the closer range stuff and about £180 per 1000. I've just started using 28g 5s in my reloaded 20g subsonics and wow they really do knock stuff down well even at 35-40yds. I think the extra mass of the no5 retains what energy it started with a bit better than the smaller shot so it still has a kick up until the pattern fails.
  22. Why not get a fully moderated 20g instead, much more versatile with loads from 21g to 32g but still very quiet. Capable of taking all normal quarry and you can afford to have a looser choke too
  23. The recoil and noise is very mild using subsonic cartridges
  24. Selling for a friend who's details will be forwarded. 20g Berretta Silver Pigeon3 687 30" multichoke barrels. As new condition less than 1000 carts fired. Based in Kettering, Northants. SGC holders Now sold
