  1. , That told you JDog you novice I was in a mood until i read this Blumming novice
  2. as am I looking forward to meeting him. Lol There was trap and feeders last show. Plenty to chose from.
  3. stood on a plank, didnt see the nail sticking up. did the same as the other on here. shook it off and carried on with work. snapped a lino knife tip off in my finger. that was the only time i fell over when i looked at it. woke up, look at it and out like a light again. lol shrapnel in the thumb from a 22lr. no feelings now. Climbed over a new 3 strand barb wire fence. stood on bottom rung, swung leg over and the U'nail popped. i have great scars around my ar... forgot about this one. i had just had the snip. got home, had a lay down as i didnt sleep the night before from panic. i had a pillow between my legs, i grabbed the pillow to pull it up higher, didnt grip very well and punched myself in the crowns. blood every where, eye crossed. i woke up in hospital. My brother had some good uns. walking on scaffolding, new guy had planked the walkways. brother was first up with his mate. walking and two short planks hit him, one in face, one in back of head. fell 3 flights and landed on a sand pile. mate landed on him. best one was he was in the yard with a young lad running the fork lift. for some reason he hit wrong peddle, backend swinging around, brother was up against a new yard fence, he tried to jump out of way, foot went into wheel, rolled right over the tire under the wheel arch. foot ripped off. small threads holding it on. told he might lose foot but would never walk properly again let alone be on site. 18 months later he was back on the roofs. fair play to him. foots doesn't move much, but its a foot and he can walk.
  4. I only use quad sticks now, i have a little bipod for if needed but the quad sticks are good for my needs, i have shown a lot of people how to make them as it is very easy to do. for a basic set. 4x 12mm green canes 4x 3" of bike inner tube. 1.25 is the best fit. black tape hacksaw. string stand up straight, in your shooting boots and mark 3 of the sticks to the tip of your nose and cut 4th stick cut 2" shorter. this stick will be the one near your cheek once guns mounted. slide a pice of inner tube onto two sticks at the cut top end. now roll it up so its like a band. you want it 5" from the top of stick. do the same to the other 2 sticks, this time one will be 2" shorter. swing sticks open and wrap tops with the tape to protect gun a little. now flip both sets of sticks over and put one set in front of the other take the front right and rear right stick and slip a piece of inner tube on, roll to an o'ring shape and position it 2" from end. do the same to the left side. now you have the 4 sticks connected. top front and rear. bottom left and right. open the stick left and right to a Vee, tie the string around the front band, between the sticks. now with the sticks open sideways you push the front sticks forward to form the two Vee's for your rifle to sit in. the shorter stick should be next to your cheek. with rifle on the sticks, get a helper to tie the loose end of the string to the back sticks. when out in the field you open sticks, let the front drop forward and there's no messing putting your rifle in the right place on the sticks as the string stops the sticks opening to far. do not tie left and right legs as you are stuck with one height, on uneven ground it becomes a problem. as said earlier, this is a basic set of sticks, you can add to it as you please. one set of mine are in two halfs with shock cord to hold set up. like tend poles. this makes them easy to put in boot of car. i also use fishing rod textured heat shrink on the tops rather than tape. i did a set with bolts but found they clank when walking, to noisy for stalking for my likings.

  6. That's nothing... ...I once put a round trees fruit pastor in my mouth without chewing, I even once ate 3 shredded wheat. (Can't do smilies on phone ) Love the knife, would love one on the hip to use but I'm rather tight and only use £5 knives. I don't like to cry as a lose things very easy. If one came my way as a gift then it would be greatly received. Lol. On Tue skinning. After you start to get on the haunch, don't pull down, twist the jacket and pull out, foot in the neck helps. Tue jacket comes off leaving every thing on the carcass. I did a fallow with a steak knife, the big 20" bladed type. I have now 4 cuts and moan every time I catch them on clothing.
  7. quick and easy way to pr1ck them. get a new wire brush, clean it first then hammer the berries with the bristles. jobs jobbed
  8. I have had Debens, brownings and Leights. I still have the leights. £35 from Eblag a couple of years ago. On the range i think the Leights out weigh anything else
  9. 50/50 on fallow taken with a heart shot, most just slump on the floor where they once stood. odd ones run. I always try and work out where the hidden leg is in relation the heart/lung. if need be i wait for the shot. I have had some right messes but its the bullet that's to blame imho, had a fair number just blowing the back wall out like a shotgun. the interlocks i use now just a clean hole with minimal damage. i find most blood gets between the membrane when bleeding out. Nothing at all wrong with the neck and head shot, i have taken a number myself this way but always close, sub 100. i was going to say the shot looked an inch low and cut the pipe works but its always hard to see when not being there. still nice work Doc now where's the butchering and the liver pate? all best Phil.
  10. I leave the doe's for a bit longer, let the young grow. we still have a fair number of rather small fawns here so i think end of November unless there is a single adult.
  11. For got to add the shank, best thing ever. bottle of red wine, red currents, chemicals, brun in a hot pan then into a sauce pan that can go in the oven, 150c for 4 hours. mash, and greens, a shank each and a glass of the red stuff. its the best.
  12. And me,lol, off of pate and crackers me thinks.
  13. Dont shoot old ones, rutting ones or ones that are alarmed. then when you do shoot one, bleed it and clean gralloch, hang it 24 hours and then butcher. two top straps will be the soft meat, it does not want over cooking. burn both sides, turn once, then into a warm oven. 100c for 15-20 minutes with blackcurrents or red current jelly, black pepper and salt. Take out and allow to rest. I like it with a cheese mash or chunky chips with the juice turned into a gravy. the front legs have a good muscle that you can trim and turn into a nice stake, as does the back, but i like the back as roast, bone it out and tie with a few sprigs of rosemary in the middle, red wine, juniper berries, rosemary, black pepper and salt. I do chunks for the casseroles and a chilli with chunks for a change is rather nice. i trim heavy so end up with a lot of mince, burgers with chilli is the best, 25% pork mince, few chemicals (herbs). Im about to try something totally different, it worked fantastic with the pate so im going to try it with the burgers this time, Cranberry infused with brandy and pistachio nuts, i might swap the nuts to cashew as i have 40lb of mince to mess with. 2 fallow, 140lb and 92lb larder weight. gives a bit of meat.
  14. Funny enough mine broke last week. i mailed Lee in a hope but the postage was stupid. I went onto Titan Reloading, I have used them in the past but thought their postage would be the same.It wasnt. I bought the 2 upgrade toggles, the square nut thing, the bolt and replacement pin, came to about £17 delivered. it took 10 days to arrive. Funny thing is, their just up the road from Lee. 15. Write a letter asking for the fence to be fixed in a timely manner as your planning on live stock being placed up on your land. if its not fixed within 2 weeks, you fix the fence and then send him the bill. or you put a fence up on your land, keep it and inch onto your land. then paint his view a real pants colour or even graffiti. he can not touch it as its on your property, he will either get the message or put up with it. if it were me i would just post and wire with pig fencing and then get on with life.
  16. OMG! Pheasant livers are tiny. you must need hundreds to make a pound of pate.lol.
  17. you know what they say about owners and pets
  18. forget the picture loops and wire. Old bike spoke, lay the wing on a flat surface and then push the spoke the length of the wing. take spoke out and replace with plumbers lead solder. now you can bend the wind to any shape you want and then flat again to transport.
  19. If your stuck D then give a shout, i have a good friend that works them from time to time.
  20. Grate photo Doc, Think its about time you watermark your work. the photos on here are open to the public which i believe makes them public to use. Still like you work, i have the fallow on my desktop thanks.
  21. Oh my goodness don't they just feed. Spoor on the floor around the bins is the give away. i think there's about 40 bins on the one part and its like the Serengeti with tracks around them. I just feel rather privileged to be able to spent the time around the place. great watching the youngsters dancing around early in the morning and even funnier watching them trying to play with the calves that are around.
  22. nope i never have sold any thing other than pigeons. I have a lot of happy friends as i give a lot a way either in burgers, dice, joints, steak or cooked.
  23. Cheers for all the comments Gents. It's not often i have much to talk about. It has been very hard work to get this permission and im on tender hooks every time i go over. i do give a lot of the venison back to land owner and friends. This is what is left of the livers, One is a smooth plain Pate. one is a coarse pate with a lot of mace and pepper and the other. Carnberry, Brandy, Pistachio nut and Pancetta. It worked out rather nice, shame i there is only one block left. oh well! looks like i have a new recipe that works very well with cheese and a good Brandy. All the best Phil.
  24. I think if Carlsberg did it then they would be jointed, cooked and on the table, alas, only the venison pate made so far
