  1. as some of you know who know me, I work in finance but have been unemployed since 19th August. Sent my c.v. off to loads of employers and had two interviews for very short term work. Went on twitter and tweeted looking for work. Logged onto twitter on Tuesday and saw a well known wholesaler of guns and ammo in Cheshire was looking for telesales staff/IT staff and we both followed each other on twitter, they even asked BASC to retweet they were looking for a IT and a telesales person. Fancied maybe a change of job? sent my c.v. off and DM'd them "did you not read my profile I am looking for work". Got a call from them, went in for a interview yesterday, asked me to come back this afternoon. Spent all last night reading up and researching what they sold. Went back at 2 pm, today and was offered a finance job for a maternity cover for 9 months and started immediately ! Still carnt believe how lucky I have been.

    Sloes

sloes also freeze wonderfully, I have some in the freezer from last year. I make various gins - its worth trying other fruit as well I have a demijohn of blackcurrant gin on the go, last batch from 2009 tastes like nectar. Have tried raspberies which turned out very pale pink but tasted good , victoria plums but looked a strange colour but havent tried it yet to drink. When I filter the liquer off i use the left over fruit in a crumble (but no recommended for the kids) ! I also made gin from a gin kit great fun to make with the charcoal etc and was amazed how it turned out, the house had a odour of juniper for days afterwards and it tastes lovely.

sorry I know exactly how you feel, been in a temporary job for 8 months, supervisor was working from home, he telephoned me to say I was on a weeks notice! Someone else in the company was under redundancy and they complained about temps whilst they were loosing their job! Spoke to me very briefly last Friday said I will speak to you in a bit and was still waiting on Monday at 3 p.m when he rang me, called me into his office and told me I was to train the person taking my job. Isnt life wonderful ...... and they wonder why people get ..... off. Got a interview on Monday for 3-4 weeks work in Warrington but no guarantees but nothing else lined up so if anyone in Cheshire needs a accounts person mail me please
  4. For anyone else using the A49 it is closed for three months between Whitchurch and Tarporley, pain in the ..... and to make matters worse the lanes round there are bad so stick to the diversion - its longer but much safer. I found out when I was on my way to fishing in Shropshire but the local press have had very little in the papers to tell the locals ! I found out from a local farmer on twitter when i moaned about the closure!
  5. Your employer has a legal requirement to issue a annual return to the IR each year after their payroll year end for each tax year for every employee. (i know I have had to do it and what a pain in the a.... it is). The IR get a copy of your P60 and a full listing of each employee and they should both tie up exactly - in most companies the end of year return is done electronically. If you have your copy of the P60, get your employer to stamp a photocopy of yours saying this "is a certified copy of the original and we have seen proof of the original or attach a letter saying so". Do not send your original P60 to the IR if it gets lost you cannot get a replacement, all you can then get will be is a letter from your employer confirming the figures on the P60. You should treat a P60 like gold dust and keep them. If you have not got your P60 copy ask your employer to write a letter confirming your P60 figures which they will have. This should also suffice for the IR. The P60 cannot be reissued by any employer as it is illegal to do so. It could be the IR are checking up on records if they have a query or it may be part of a internal audit at the IR end. Either way better to be on the right side of them and supply whats asked if your pay was through PAYE you should have nothing to worry about. I have worked for a employer who was very behind paying money over to the IR and whilst the employees thought it was being paid over it was not, the IR came in and invetigated them. The P60 is your proof of what your deductions and earnings have been in each tax year and if you have that its your proof as to what the employer has declared as well.
  6. Be intersted in any feedback on this, I was there in the Angling Section working but had a quick walk around and did not seem that much to me to see but did not get over to he shooting area. Anyone else go ?
  7. I go to the one in Stockport and no shooting bits there but at least they are trying with fishing gear which is more said than some retailers. If mum and dad go in for outdoors gear the kids can be tempted by the fishing gear as well. I buy fleeces there for fishing, quality is good, price good and wash well.

Whatever happened our thoughts must be with the famiies of people who lost their lives in such a tragic way. No matter what guns laws you have, the response from non gun owners will be the same and it is up to us all to educate and make people aware how responsible and safe most gun owners are.
  9. Hi, Anyone going the show next week 27th July come and say hello in the countryside arena. Im there with the Nantwich Angling Society and we also have Simon Whitehead doing his demonstrations with the ferrets, Terry Large with the Falconry, Mike Roberts Gun Dogs and some fly tying demonstrations and fly casting instruction. and we are next to the refreshments area!
  10. They also seem to pick on public car parks at Agricultural shows to test at - They seem to think they have a captive audience and just looked for anything 4x4 when i last went to the Royal Welsh
  11. Hi Coming home from work today and saw someone in camo out on the fields near Stretton in Cheshire with the pigeon gear on a field of stubble. Made me realise I have not been on here for ages and it was not till I logged realised how long Jan 2010 ! Even i could not go through 780 pages of unread posts. Been spending too much time either out fishing or helping to run a fishing society, going to the CLA - so I am back now and looking forward to getting back into my clay shooting too. If your going to Peover Game fair this weekend come along and say hello as I am there in the Angling Marquee with the society.
  12. Hi I would be interested in it too as would be nice to go somewhere else to fish.
  13. Hi Switched on my Dell laptop last night but I could not get the screen to come on, could see the image very faintly. Went and plugged my old big monitor in and could see my data from the laptop. Laptop as a computer is working perfectly but no screen? Have checked device monitor, display adaptor etc and all says working ok. Anyone else had this happen to them? Any help appreciated. Jan
  14. When i moved I had to send my SGC with details of new address and he came out and inspected my cabinet. Took quite a few weeks in Cheshire before he came to inspect my cabinet but once he came out and was satisfied with the cabinet I got my SGC back within days. I photocopied my SGC before I sent if off and carried that with me until I got the amended one back.

sorry boys your wasting your time offering your .... services http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-...ng-husband.html Did her husband have a lucky escape or what? If she gets fed up with living there she can allways offer it me, i would be in 7th heaven, stupid cow she needs to get a life.
  16. Hi Jim and family sorry to hear about your dog, lovely pictures and great memories from your write up. take care
  17. i trust you dont go shooting in the early hours of the morning, would really ruin their beauty sleep at 5 am wouldnt it, if you went and knocked on their door and said I am going shooting, is that OK?. Some people need to get a life and realise what to expect in they move to the countryside. Why dont you offer to take them shooting as well and really educate them? While you at it offer them a nice pigeon caserole as well.
  18. Really nice write up and so nice to see another lady wanting to tie flies. No its not hard, its a case of building your fly up step by step. I have been trying flies for many years now, tend to do it more on the winter months or when I run out of a particular fly. Whilst my first love is coarse fishing I also like fishing for trout and you cannot beat the satisfaction of catching something on a fly you have tied. Many years ago at the angling fair at Chatsworth watched some one of the scandanavian guys making flies from disgarded rubbish like white twine, packing foam and other bits. Made you really think what you could make flies with. Whenever I go out walking I am allways picking up feathers and friends that go beating send me feathers as well. Its amazing what feathers you can pick up and you never know when that will come in useful. Best fish I have had to date is a 14lb trout in Anglesey on a buzzer i designed with a black body with a bright blue rib going down the body. Kick myself now i never got a picture of the fish but I got greater satisfaction to put it back because of its size for others to enjoy for another day even though I could have taken it home. Great fun making your own designs up and seeing how effective they are once on the water. used to meet up with some other fly tyers and we met at someones house once a week and tied flies together. If anyone is near Nantwich a very large angling centre does a fly tying class on a wednesday till 7 pm ish. The guy that does it taught me.
  19. I have Sporting shooter on subscription and a friend has sporting gun, we read them and then swop, read each others and then pass them back. This way I get two lots of reading for the price of one! BOGOF brilliant. I then pass them onto to others at the gun club.
  20. I was talking to the farmer where my fishing club have fishing rights and he told me my sloes are coming on nicely! He also mentioned the bottle i gave him from last christmas was going down rather well and probably needed topping up. Allways look after him especially as he gives me shooting permission as well. One of my other farmers in Shropshire has give me first option on his unwated damsons as well - what a result. Just goes to prove if you look after your farmers not only for fishing but you sometimes get offers of other things as well. Well worth the donation of a bottle or two at Christmas time.
  21. Was listening to Radio Stoke on Monday morning and the local round table said as soon as the festival finished they moved in with 500 volunteers and packed up all the tents that were left behind and they were each packed up and bagged seperately, taken away and cleaned up and sent sent to overseas charities that needed aid. The thing that staggered me was the number they collected last year ...... 5000 ...... Just think if they left them for the MGF how many bivvys or shooting hides we could all make..... But at least they are going to a good home, shame it is not to charities in this country though? Or am I selfish thinking charity belongs in the UK - what about the scouts etc

    V Festival

Watched a bit of it on TV, not quite sure why anyone pays and does not even get a seat. If i was paying that much would want a bit of comfort.
  23. I never have a problem with the alchohol content in mine. Last week i filtered off 1 demijon of blackcurrant gin made with Mr Tesco cheepest and it tasted like velvet with the colour of a nice claret. Both me and my bottling assistant both commented how strong it was and I did remind him i had to drive home afterwards so he finished up the testing glass. I also filtered off 1 demijohn of raspberry gin that I had made from a gin kit which was quite messy with lots of sachets to add including charcoal. This was pretty strong too. I was quite suprised by this as did not know what to expect and really expected something akin to paint stripper really but was pleasantly suprised. Would have a go at making a gin kit again and only costs around £12. Both these have been sitting in the dark since June last year and I will probably bottle them in the next week or so. I allways leave mine at least a year before I first filter to get the fruit out. When I have made sloe gin I leave them a good 18 months before first filter.
  24. I watched this eating my breakfast, just thought it was a shame that the a pest controller could not have been found with some ferrets, rather than someone using chemicals. If they had got someone like Simon Whitehead on it would have been much more interesting and educational.
  25. Shane, you take good care of yourself
