  1. Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels are amazing. And The Italian Job (obviously not the cruddy american one.)
  2. Dumb and Dumber Saving Private Ryan Dambusters Terminator films Wouldn't mind watching any of them at the moment. Not great but all I can remember that are all right.
  3. I'm one of those students. Not fussed how much I earn as long I'll have enough to have some enjoyment. Will need to pay back my £25,000 student debt off though which may take a while...
  4. This is a bit hard. 3 that spring to mind - Blackadder Red Dwarf South Park. Just so you all know, Family Guy is absolute tosh
  5. Christmas is all about crisp sunny mornings with the dog, sitting by the fire with a cuppa and some mince pies and cream. Have some yummy food and bevvies and a laugh, and get some presents on top. I'm still (just) young enough to return a profit on Christmas and even get a small stocking - can't beat that kid feeling of a load of little presents! And I can't afford to just buy stuff, but Christmas allows a few treats to be had. But not even November yet so can't start on about it too much yet
  6. Shooting is still my primary hobby. Still try and play the piano when I'm home, otherwise it's tinkering with the Series 2 landy, driving it around, and walking the dog. Most of the time I'm stuck at uni learning about some crud I couldn't care less about thinking about walking the dog and shooting stuff And drinking ale. That's always good.
  7. I think people were only joking about shooting their wives mate... Hope you hid her well
  8. They're not really bad off road. Still better than a daihatsu or suzuki or whatever. It's a Land Rover afterall (kind of anyway).
  9. Can't agree with this. Landies are hard as nails, and offer invincibility off road and are made of big lumps of metal, and even the newish ones are well over engineered. Unlike Jap **** which is all plasticy and made of tin foil. Also, parts are readily available (in the odd event you should need them) and they are easy to replace yourself. There's thousand of Series Land Rovers still on the road, from 30 - 60 years old, many of which have been exposed to the elements the duration of their life. Other 4x4 copies would have worn into the ground by then. And no, if maintained it won't have had hundreds of replacement parts! There's still some with original wheel bearings even. It's maintenance that's the key, and with a Land-Rover it's always a pleasure - knowing you are keeping a British icon on the road. Many Land Rover parts were designed by a bloke with a tash and a cup of tea in a shed in a day. Simplicity is the key. Also, I nearly break modern plasticy rubbish just byu getting in them these days now I am used to British engineering at it's best, a series 2 Landy. B) B) Best four by four by far.
  10. SOLD Selling on behalf of my dad - Good condition 6-18x40 BSA scope, calibrated for .22 long rifle. Comes with another turret for various bullet weights. Duplex reticule. He wants £60 with 1st Class recorded post, ONO. Also BSA medium mounts, £10 posted. As pictured.
  11. Ex Ministry of Defence, so ex military yeah
  12. 200,000 miles would be tops I would think. They'd last much longer than that much would be burners and rattle around liek mad. A full rebuild will cost a lot. Not sure of exact price but I'd say £1,000 to £1,500. A rebore and skim a few hundred. Looking at adverts in LRO now got a 1984 90, new 200 TDi, looks mint on the outside - £2,999 1988 200TDi, 95,000 miles, again looks good on the outside - £2,200 1989 200TDi, £4,750. Very limited descriptions given but should be good underneath for that money - and outside appearance reflects care for the vehicle. 1986 ex mod 90 200TDi, good chassis and bulkhead, new gearbox, transfer box and clutch - £3,450. Then you get a 2005 TD5 with 50,000 miles which is a fair bit when there's a 95,000 miler for £2,200. this one is £10,500. All very variable - you just have to go and get a look at them
  13. You're best off with a defender I think if it's not going to used that much. A disco will rot away before your eyes if not used a lot. Also Defender hold their value if looked after as you've discovered. For £5,000 look for 90/100's or early Defenders that have been looked after. You could get an absolute minter C, D, E, F reg 90 for £4,000 - 5,000. It varies massivley with a vehicle of that age in what's good about it and what isn't. For £3,000 expect very good chassis, bulkhead, gearbox and drivetrain generally, and engine should run well for it's age. You then have enough cash to send the engine off to turners for a rebuild or buy the bits and do it yourself and just send it off for a rebore and skim. For £5,000 (I'd go for an older model just because I am like that) they will be in mega good condition and haven't got all those electronics everywhere which make it hard to repair yourself and expensive to get repaired.
