  1. The trouble is he has a massive amount of 'fake' social media promoting his campaign behind the scenes Vast swathes of Americans know no different and believe it at face value. It's a clever principle really
  2. When my mate joined the Met many years ago CID officers, especially the senior ones, lived visibly and conspicuously beyond their payscale. Making no attempt to hide it. Things have improved. The Stephen Lawrence enquiry said the police were institutionally racist. Actually that wasn't true, they were institutionally corrupt. The senior detective investigating the murder was paid off by the father of one of the suspects
  3. I have now watched the whole debate, not just the highlights. Trump has really lost the plot. Just resorting to lies, immigrants are eating dogs, they are murdering babies. He has the biggest rallies in history. All contradicted by the fact checker. He seems desperate and at times confused. He certainly looks older and tired. He has taken over Biden's role as the old man who isn't quite sure what's going on
  4. I don't accept any of those points It's clear we had no ability to influence our own future while we were part of the EU . Our hands were tied in every way. And we were paying shed loads of money for the privilege Immigration has increased its true but how do you link that to Brexit? The world economy has declined but how you link that to Brexit is clearly not supported. What personal freedoms have we lost? None that I can see I rest my case
  5. I haven't watched it yet but reports are that Harris wiped the floor with Trump. Trump was apparently on the back foot and awkward She is looking better than I first feared she might be. I hope so.
  6. There is a very similar article in the Guardian this morning. Saying the same as the one in the Telegraph yesterday. Schengen is dead. The Guardian used to be a remain newspaper but not anymore. It's now becoming very critical of the way things are being run within the EU and highlighting its internal problems. We can't be smug though, even though we are out of the EU we are still going to go down with them if the whole thing collapsed.
  7. And what about all the British companies that were given totally illegal financial inducements by the EU to relocate to places like Eastern Europe and Ireland pre Brexit?
  8. You have to be joking! Oh yes I see what you mean. It's Starmer we are talking about......
  9. The EU has been told in an internal report that it has to increase public spending by 800 billion euros just to stop the decline in their economy Have they got it? I very much doubt it The EU is sliding down the slippery slope as markets slow down. Even tourism is down Anyone who thinks that increasing public spending to compensate for a fall in productivity is ever going to work is deluded. All I can say is thank God we are out because quite a big chunk of that 800 billion would be demanded from us.
  10. Was not the growing existence of illegal settlements on the West Bank not a bit of a provocation ? Albeit not a justification for killing anyone over it.
  11. It wasn't a fiasco it was blocked and sabotaged. But we have a perfectly good ID card already . The driving licence could be easily upgraded. OK so what about people who don't drive? Make theirs a provisional or a blank driving licence. But the operation is already up and running so why not use it? In America your driving licence is effectively an ID card and it works there. You can actually get arrested for not having your licence on you in America even if you are not driving. On the subject of producing ID we flew two weeks ago from London Heathrow to Glasgow . We still had to scan our passports to check in even though it's an internal flight. We were warned we would have to so had them with us.
  12. Yes but it's a massively drawn out process with lots of pandering to the egos of tinpot politicians in the minor member states. It's one of the fundamental flaws in the constitution of the EU. It's a round table so everything takes twenty seven times as long as it should. If one disagrees then you have to start all over again
  13. The EU has no mechanism to negotiate with. All the way through that has been the problem. All the member states have to agree any deal and the reality has always been that never happens
  14. Back then she saw an opportunity for getting a supply of cheap skivvies to do all the dirty jobs for peanuts wages. Good if it had worked, the Germans have always had Turkish dogsbodies to dig their roads and empty their bins etc It backfired on her though
  15. A story in the Telegraph this morning saying Germany is closing its borders to migrants. Including EU nationals unless they meet certain criteria. Schengen is effectively now history. Another failed dream based on ideology rather than practical considerations consigned to the past
  16. Unlike this country the other desirable countries have very strict rules and wouldn't let you in. USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand would all turn you down
  17. Electric scooters as well. When I am in South London they are all over the place. Driving them on the road at well over the legal speed . Allowing that a lot of the roads on South London are now 20mph they overtake you like you standing still. Electric scooters in particular are the favoured mode of transport for phone and bag snatchers. They ride in an out of the cars stuck in heavy traffic flipping open the boot lids. A lot of criminality surrounds these vehicles. There is, I understand, a thriving internet industry in upgrading the motors to achieve these speeds.
  18. When every door but one is closed, where will they all go I wonder? It's not just about the illegals though. Germany and other Northern European countries do not want unrestricted movement of labour from poorer EU countries anymore. At one time, not so long ago, they thought masses of cheap labour was a bonus for their industries but those industries are now failing Take Volkswagon as an example. It could actually go bust. Technically it is already bankrupt as demand for their cars has fallen alarmingly. More importantly its still falling, they are laying off staff. The one thing they don't need is more people
  19. The Northern European countries are all hardening their stance
  20. The delivery drivers round here use them. They don't have number plates but no way are they limited to 15.5 mph
  21. How do you know what their reasons are? You can't just toss something like that into a discussion and expect to get away with it
  22. Many years ago I actually went to the Trade Union Conference. I was disgusted with what I saw and heard As you said so much class hatred and venom. Back then a lot of them still believed they were actively working to bring about the revolution .
  23. Ah so now you are moving the goalposts. They weren't forced to move back they chose to. There has never been free health care in Spain. My friends have always had to have private medical insurance in Spain. And so would you and I when we went on holiday. Brexit did not change anything there. That's just another spurious remainer red herring.
  24. Freedom of movement was ********. How many Britons wanted to move to Lithuania and get a job? Compared to how many Lithuanians wanted to move to Britain ? Hardly a level playing field was it? No Brits were forced to move back to Britain after Brexit. They could apply for residents status and several of my friends did.
  25. Not underfunded, Overspent There is a difference and that difference is the core of the problem we have.
