  1. In a country like America where the senior Judges are appointed by Politicians and the politicians are openly financed by backers like oil companies, tobacco companies and foreign interests what do you expect ?
  2. Andrew, Trump, Clinton and the magician David Copperfield are the only names I recognised. Lots of other American politicians are mentioned but their names are not familiar to me
  3. There are however a lot of people selling a lot of stuff on ebay and I have to wonder how many are declaring it Same as all the people doing AirBnB
  4. The junior doctors are putting out a lot of misleading information and refusing to negotiate. They have not budged one inch from their initial demand and have brought nothing new to the table They keep saying that junior doctors are paid £26,000 a year. This is technically true but hardly the full story That is the basic pay of a first year junior doctor (still at that stage a student) but that doesn't take into account overtime, unsocial hours and weekend working allowance. In addition they get study leave and accommodation allowance. This brings the average pay of a first year junior doctor up to £40,300. That sounds a bit better doesn't it?
  5. That's not really the issue unfortunately The question is not "would you challenge it ?" The question is what it the likelihood that your challenge would be successful?
  6. it appears that Gunshop at Cat Hill in Barnet North London has closed I'm told the police suddenly demanded a lot of additional (and expensive) extra security which the owner Joe could not afford.
  7. You have to include the new year's day parade with all the American marching band and their families coming to London London is rammed with tourists for new year and you have to buy tickets for the fire works they are not free. The cost of the fire works will be recouped many times over
  8. Actually our economy has grown. Not as quickly as we would like but we are doing better than the EU as a whole and France and Germany in particular That's not surprising when more than 80% of the population of the EU is financially inert. They pay nothing into the "pot", they produce no goods and create no wealth. In May 2004 Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Malta, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Estonia, Czechia, and Cyprus were allowed to join the EU Romania followed in Jan 2007. Nobody can explain why. They were mostly bankrupt ex communist block countries. All massively failed to reach the financial requirements for membership and most had very dodgy governments riddled with nepotism and corruption. since they joined they have drained the EU dry of money and subsidies. That is why we needed to get out
  9. I think we are so much better off out of the EU The EU is sliding slowly off the edge of a financial cliff and its lucky for us that we are not tied to them or we would go too. More and more countries are talking openly about wanting to leave. We really are better off out than having to contribute towards their financial shortfall
  10. But it's more than just his island. He operated his "fun factories" in London and new York as well. His net spread very widely He was also very "busy" in Palm Beach and had a place just down the road from Trump's Mar a Largo Hmmmm
  11. I drive back and forth between London and Cornwall a lot these days. I more or less always have a scary moment at some stage on each journey. I also always see some absolute plonkers
  12. It convinces me that I need to get a dash cam in the January sale
  13. A lot of people who are driving in this country don't have British Licences. My late mother's carer drove for the six years that we knew her on her Hungarian driving Licence and seemed to get away with it. Apparently because she used to return to Hungary a couple of times a year to visit family it was legal.

    Wham

I dislike that somehow Cliff Richard should be associated with Christmas and gets invited to appear on various TV talk shows at this time of year I can't stand the man, I know the allegations about him were never proven but there is just something about him that sets my teeth on edge.

    Wham

I thought I was the only one who found him very annoying

    Wham

It's credited as Wham but actually its written and produced by George Michael and he played every instrument. He was an immense and generally under rated talent. His stage presence was second only to Freddie Mercury but in a very different style. Watch him do different corner at Palais Garnier in Paris on YouTube. Absolute perfection
  17. The sad truth is that there is a mismatch between wagaes and rent in most areas of the country. Plus a shortage of secure well paid 'proper jobs' that allow prospective tenants to pass the increasingly stringent credit checks
  18. We already know Trump is on the list but he will just brush it aside like he does with everything else Fake news, it's a conspiracy etc

    Dignitas

It has happened already. Thousands were euthanized using the Liverpool Pathway. Many, I believe, without proper consultation. It still happens today, its a very thin line between compassionate palliative care and assisted dying The drugs they have to give you to relieve the pain would be illegal under any other circumstances and everyone understands this.
  20. That's what happens and it appears to be their official policy. The migrants cannot be returned to the safe country from which they came. Anyway, whatever the arguments, France won't let us return them
  21. Oh yes they could, it would be a violation of international law and they would not hesitate to protest to United Nations etc. Just because they are like that. the French are clever enough not to document the migrants in any way so there is no way we can demonstrate they came from France That's why we need Rwanda
  22. Yes it turned out to be an accidental overdose after he was supposed to have been clean. Everyone should read his book. It's a sad insight into the true reality of addiction and how it controls every aspect of your life
  23. If the EU was dealing with the problems at the point of entry, every point of entry, in a unified manner. We and the rest of Europe wouldn't have the situation we all collectively find ourselves in. But instead we have silence, deafening silence
  24. Other countries are doing similar things. Its not just UK. The problem is there is no unified strategy which is absolutely typical of the EU. It's a text book example of everything that's wrong with the EU. No mechanism for decision making
