  1. No, he will get the old deal with a fresh coat of paint and have to suffer a lot of condescending distain in order to get it
  2. That could work actually? A night school course in origami. What actually is the definition of 'full time education'? Many students only attend a couple of lectures a week. I absolutely bet that a lot of people claiming to be in full-time education are nothing of the sort.
  3. We used to go out to pubs to get out of the house. The alternative was watching Coronation Street on our only TV with your mum and dad. Now you can buy booze at half the price you would pay in a pub and watch any band you like for free on YouTube
  4. My friend, now sadly no longer with us, when growing up in rural Nebraska in the early 40s used to take his .22 rifle to school every day and so did a lot of the other boys. They would stand them in the corner of the schoolroom during the day. It really is a different world over there. However, a .22 single shot Stevens is a bit different to a .223 AR15
  5. All the small venues around London where we used to go to watch live bands (with the exception of the Roundhouse) have disappeared long ago. It's the way of the world. The question really is why was the local council funding it in the first place? It's hardly core council business is it?
  6. This appears to be Angela "Red" Raynor's ageist policy. Not 'you plonker Rodney' Starmer this time.
  7. This is it in a nutshell. If we get it why can't plonkers like Starmer get it? The whole principal was the threat would be enough if you made it clear you were absolutely serious about doing it. There would be nobody coming that needed to actually be sent to Rwanda. Its appalling how stupid Starmer was to say outright that he would cancel the scheme. Before he was even elected!
  8. Many years ago my cousin worked as a civil servant in a job centre on Merseyside. She was an Executive Officer so reasonably high up. On practically her first day there she was told not to argue with the applicants. What ever they want give it to them. No matter how unbelievable their story might be. So she saw first hand men arriving in vans wearing paint splattered overalls coming in to sign on and collect their giros. She was not allowed to query it It was pure institutional lazyness, anything for a quiet life and it came down from above. Don't make waves because nobody loves a hero, it just creates paperwork. This impression of the Civil Service I think is endemic at the grass roots.
  9. The only thing I disagree about with you there is the number of sackings required . I think it's more than a few and the rot runs deep into the fabric of the organisation.
  10. Which is true along with over generous benefits, a civil service that's not fit for purpose and bottomless legal aid to fund endless appeals
  11. If France had the common sense to see it, immediately returning the boat people to France every time would kill the whole problem stone dead in weeks. The migrants camping in Calais would realise it was hopeless and go elsewhere. Gradually the word would spread all the way back to where these people come from France has given Starmer a flea in his ear this week about trying to negotiate 'a better relationship' whatever that might mean? They don't want to find solutions.
  12. It's not just cars. China is dumping everything onto the Western markets in an attempt to destroy the traditional industrial bases around the world . The scary thing is they are succeeding.
  13. Clever use of words, before the election Labour pledged no increase in tax for WORKING people. That doesn't include pensioners it now appears. Also they never said anything about withdrawal of benefits
  14. But I absolutey bet the ECHR doesn't tell THEM it's illegal like they told the British Government
  15. The trouble appears to be that this Labour Government is running on socialist / Communist dogma rather than intelligence and a balanced approach. State control of every aspect of our lives nationalise the railways, net zero, ban legitimate landlords from evicting tenants. etc. All out of the Looney Left wing songbook
  16. There is a lot of bootleg booze being sold in this country. I would imagine vodka is the easiest to fake.
  17. You are right but don't forget Milliband. His actions, if followed through to their logical conclusion, will cost us a lot more than Rayner and Starmer could ever hope to squander. Milliband can set in place things that will be still losing money for generations to come.
  18. Germany, it is reported, is going to go down the Rwanda route. Making Starmer look like a right plonker in the process. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic how badly this government is doing
  19. *** has this got to do with Brexit? Absolutely nothing. You remainers never miss an opportunity to throw any argument into the Brexit debate. But you lost, get used to it It's over, it's done, ancient history. Accept it and move on. It's actually very scary because you are unfortunately dead right on the money. I wish you weren't
  20. Since the enquiry has not yet reported its findings I'm not at all sure that would be legal. Typical knee jerk reaction from Labour though, badly thought out.
  21. The key and most relevant point about the Grenfell tower fire was that there was no fire specification for external cladding. So it's going to be hard to point the finger at anyone and say they were negligent. Plus local authority contracts usually have to be awarded by law to the best (ie lowest) quote to demonstrate accountability. So that would answer most of the questions in about ten minutes. No need for a lengthy multi million pound enquiry.
  22. Not at all strange. A lot of Jewish people (even in Israel) don't approve of the way the war is being conducted
  23. It's the old straight bananas argument. The EU meddled in everything, even things that didn't matter. It worked reasonably well until 2004 but then it showed it's true colours. The Euro has been an absolute disaster for many of the countries that have it. They were talking about forcing us to join.
  24. The principle of the British electoral system is that you elected the person not the party. I think she would be mad to defect to Reform. Reform is not a party, they are just a protest group of disillusioned individuals. They might be a party one day but that day is a long way off.
  25. I can't see him going as far as Dartford He drove a blue jag at one time then a volvo estate
