BASC response to HSE lead ammunition consultation
wymberley replied to Conor O'Gorman's topic in General Shooting Matters
There are some who would say that this is spoiled by introducing an additional activity. In our case I think the wording would be somewhat more emphatic. -
BASC response to HSE lead ammunition consultation

Nah, Mate, the rest of us will be shooting rats, rabbits and assorted wearing second hand quality Tweed off Ebay and dirt cheap Purdeys or Boss' from Wabbitbosher. -
With a big problem over 2 years and the ropes scarce, the Portek gas gun would have made both practical and economic sense. So suspect,. as usual, there's something we haven't been told.

It is. Haven't heard from step-son so he's either locked up in The Tower or his fiance gave him a good slapping. (See above) And I've had a reply which is almost verbatim as I expected. I didn't know what Bcc meant but found out. Feel sorry for my MP as he sounded fed up that I copied him for info only but at that stage required no action. The reply - not from the P&CC herself but a Customer Services Support Officer made things easy and my response has been sent. MP will be pleased that I've now asked for his input should he see fit - the MP down in Plymouth who is causing/has caused all the trouble is of a different political persuasion

It's OK, Guys, we'll get there. It's just that we're two and a quarter centuries behind the French.

Fac airrifle power and effective killing distance

You're going to need a bigger boat Firearms Certificate. Without being silly, a R10 se will do 25 ftlbs comfortably. -
They just have via email. This WILL be fun.

Step-son is off to a C&A party where him, his fiance and his boss are having an audience before the bun fight starts. Have suggested he could ask HM if he could find out why my variation is taking so long. Don't think I'll hold my breath though.

There but for the Grace of God go I and the self righteous.

Eley 3" subsonic cartridges

Surely not if you can shoot 8 mag at 150 yards. -
If you don't want to fork out too much, try Louis Jadot, Combe Aux Jacques, Beaujolais-Villages. But let it breathe.

Correctly applied that is - or could be - an eminently sensible idea. For a start it would take any FEO's hairbrained idea on alarms, guns per cabinet, etc, etc, out of the equation by applying a definitive system. Everyone knows where they stand.

Right enough, I fancy and at that later stage he discovers that they're not even worth anywhere near the same actual figure which he paid for them back then.
-
My figures are MV0 not the more usual MV1. However even at 1300 that's pushing it - and that's without all of the ejecta which would take things up to the more usually quoted 15 ft/sec and 24 ftlbs

Re your posts this thread - nothing to shoot and besides the COPD has me and I'm bored - all are spot on. Your 5lb gun and 5/8 ounce at a sedate 1250 at the muzzle has 9.8 ft/sec recoil velocity and 7.5 ftlbs recoil energy. A 6lb gun and the 1 ounce at 1400 (slow from some loaders) at the muzzle has 14.6 and 19.9 respectively. I've only used the base load weight for ease of calculation - those figures would rise if all the ejecta was included. For comfort the recommended/suggested max' is 10ft/sec and 15 ftlbs for a good session.

Sort of, it's the model HW66 and the JM (Jagd Match variant), So HW66JM. Do emphasise that it's not for carrying around

This is one of those threads where everyone is right. This because scope mag' is a personal preference/setting. Set a target up of the size that you will be shooting at what you figure will be your maximum range and scrounge a gun mounted scope which has plenty of mag and have a peep adjusting the mag to the lowest level at which you would feel confident in pulling the trigger. Sorted. But Dave-G has a point above.
-
You can't go wrong with either of the first two - both triggers are exceptional. Having had one in 22Hornet flavour, provided you're not going to be wandering about with it - more plonk it down and shoot - have a look at the Weihrauch JM. Most stable small bore I have ever shot.

Just a heads up as I'm not sure if there has been a change or whether it was always thus. It might just depend on age so if it matters to you see whether it's MoA or mRad. Currently they're the latter but I seem to think that this is a recent-ish change from MoA.

I'd take a small wager that if you were to put your location on your avatar, someone would be only too pleased to meet up and give you a steer.

I got older. Went through the slowing down bit, the looking at the nearside kerb bit and the clip on polaroid anti dazzle glases which did work, but in the end I realised my eyes weren't adjusting quickly any more. Don't drive at night now except in built up areas and the short dash to the farm. The only inconvenience is that a couple of choice restaurants out in the sticks are reserved now for summer evenings. EDIT: Just seen Strimmer's last bullet point - except for the riding, absolutely spot on.

Just arrived and so well packaged even Hermes couldn't have damaged it. I am absolutely delighted. The 'aspect ratio' for want of a better term is exactly as I had wished and the enlarged picture looks even better than shown on the thread. My heartfelt thanks simply don't begin to cover it. PM on way.
